"This isn't something Dennis just came upon, and he believes with the transfusion he would be unclean and unworthy."
it's a scriptural fact that we are all unclean and unworthy....and if we received what we deserved we would all die in sin and be relegated to hell.....but......we have a Savior, His name is Jesus.....He stood in OUR place and HE took OUR sin upon Himself as propitiation for OUR sins. the Father accepts Jesus' sacrifice in place of our own, His blood has cleansed us. funny how important blood is all thru scripture and it's ability to cleans from sin, but the JW's are hung up on an old testament scripture about eating blood and will sacrifice their loved ones based upon their (mis) understanding of it. i recon that a 14 year old knows the consequences of his actions and i also realize children are largely a product of their environment and that his upbringing played a large part in his decision. Jesus laid His life down for many and He instructed us " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." so a simple blood transfusion would seem easy.
Jesus made it clear it's not what we take into our body which makes us unclean/defiled but rather what proceeds out of out hearts.
"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:These are [the things] which defile a man:"
personally i would lay my life down for my family and giving blood would be an honor.
but in the end this young man had his wish honored and (unfortunately) paid for it with his life.....because the JW's don't recognize Jesus as the Son of God or Savior (i.e. His diety), their fate is already cast.

So Holden, what is your MESSAGE to the world, by being so insensitive, insulting and intolerant?

Good observations, Buz. In the JW mindset we simply have another expression of legalism, right alongside Islam and Mormonism. It's amazing just how pure and unique the Gospel of Grace is. To deviate from it's principle of grace and freedom always ends in tragedy. It's easy to understand why St. Paul pronounced a curse on all who would pervert and mishandle the precious Gospel of Grace he so faithfully preached.

Apparently, Holden has but one message to deliver to all threads on this blog, regardless of the subject at hand. Sort of a one-dimensional take on things, I guess.
Regarding the kid who decided to throw away years of life that science could have given him: it's a shame, I guess. But at least he was happy with his decision, and the court allowed him to live his last days with the dignity of following what he believed was his best course in life.

Namtac, just being "happy" wiht one's decisions is just plain old relativism. The issue is truth and reality, not warm fuzzies.
