While this is obviously something that should have been done long ago - actually, centuries ago! - it is nice to see that they are trying to solve a problem. Sweeping it under their rugs was never a good way to deal with it, and it appers that this lesson is being taken to heart.
I wonder if the Catholic church heirarchy would have gone this far if it hadn't been for the billion or so dollars this problem has cost them?

"In a comic book version for children over 10, a teenager turns to St. Michael the Archangel for strength to report that two schoolmates are being sexually abused.".......................
i can't seem to find in my bible where believers are to rely or turn to angels for strength.....i guess i'm just left trusting, calling and relying upon God in my times of need !
namtac if you think about it, a billion bucks is less than one dollar per catholic follower. to answer your question though, their heirachy did not change even while they were aware and part of what was going on. so the hit in the pocket book must have had some part in their decision......what are your thoughts.

one comic book (which no-one - honestly - will ever read) warns children about sexual abuse (which this church has systematically and unapologetically condoned for close to 2000 years)
this is not just too little, too late - it's actually insulting. for a religion that promotes purity and salvation through penitence, the Catholic Church should be flagellating itself in shame.
an "oopsie" comic just doesn't cut it.

" . . . which this church has systematically and unapologetically condoned for close to 2000 years)"
The Roman Catholic Church, dispite it's vaunted claims did not exist for many centuries of the Christain era - as such; and is by no means coextensive with the Christain Faith. Many of the contributing factors to clergy sexual abuse were instituted later and contrary to Biblical principles - celibacy in particular.
I'm in agreement, however, that this comic book is a useless bauble, and will not significantly treat the problems inherant in the RCC. Since they rejected the Reforming efforts of the 16th century, they have continued to harden their hearts to biblical truth and to persist in their greivous errors. While I was saddened by the clergy abuse scandals, I was neither shocked nor surprized. They should be flagellating themselves for this more than the sex abuse issues - which flow from their theological errors.
I, for one, would most certainly NOT want my child reading such tripe. The greatest shame is that such a "comic" book is seen as good and necessary. It simply shows that we are a culture far gone into the night of spiritual darkness and decay.
