Can a Baptist preacher win it all?

I do not think so. Huckabee, to liberal. The only way he would get my vote, is if he ran against the WITCH. In fact I see no one running that worth a plugged nickel. Either party. Obama the witch will rip him to pieces. He will be number two on the liberal ticket.

The whole system is too involved with powerful, behind-the-scenes interests who guide and market, controling the whole process with their marionette strings. We've got tired old relics of past failure and new poster boy types (the Breck boy and the middle class minority guy), preened and ready to run by the marketers. Real quality and depth of mind and policy are not the criteria that sell for election day - unfortuntely. It's all about image over substance - thank you, modern media.

I thought (what am I doing - I thought this was a religious blog - must have the wrong address - hmmmm.

nikos i'm with you on this one. i would really like to see more thought provoking (faith issues) topics - not politics disguishes as religion.here's a suggestion - ask the simply question " who is Jesus " and just sit back and read and participate in a blog which i suspect would show a large diversity of thoughts and would ceratinly lend itself to scriptural evaluation - that would be a discussion on religious issues imo.

Interesting. Most people can't talk about the upcoming presidential election without talking about faith. It seems to be everywhere...I'm sure I'm not telling most of you anything new. But I'll take your bet.

Both men mentioned, as well as the woman running, have made frequent reference to their religious backgrounds powering their stances on policy. That's enought o qualify as worthy topics for discussion. And while discussing for the umpteenth time who might fit the name Jesus historically or theologically is also valid on a religions post, I lament the fact the there isn't more discussion of other faiths and their doctrines.

I was only kidding, folks. I guess I didn't make it clear enough. But if you make it too clear it looses its umph! Right?

My criteria for president do not include a candicate's being a Baptist preacher or affiliated wiht a certain church; although I do PREFER presidents be biblical Christians. But I certainly don't want a religious zealot in the office any more than I want a quixoitc socialist. I really just want someone intelligent, experienced and governmentally creative. If I wanted a civil "pastor" I'd write in Billy Graham, or whoever.

Although it doesn't sit well with me, because of the quirkiness of Mormonism (not to mention its theological heresy), I would vote for Romney over anyone else if I truly thought he'd be the best administrator of the presidential office, in accordance with conservative principles; trusting he'd no more consult with the "Prophets" in Salt Lake City than Kennedy did with the Magisterium in Rome. Personally, I didn't like Billy Graham visiting the White House either.

If people only consider Huckabee's religious affiliation and background, they are very truncated in their assessment. His immigration and taxation track records bother me. I will not vote for him simply because he's an ordained Baptist minister. Let's just get a great idea guy in there who is reasoned, principled, and well-spoken - and, of course, consistently and conservatively American (as opposed to a big-government, one-world, cryto-Marxist baby killer). Too bad it's an imperfect world - and system.

Secession may be our only option in the end. (just kidding) - although, Hmmm.
