Reunion in Atlanta

ATLANTA - Former President Jimmy Carter said people around the world know Christians for their divisions rather than their unity, a painful legacy he tried to correct Wednesday by bringing together 30 Baptist groups under one roof.
The Celebration of the New Baptist Covenant, a historic gathering of African-American Baptists and moderate to liberal white Baptists gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center to sing, pray and consider common ministries.
Looking out at more than 10,000 people, the former president choked up and called the meeting "the most momentous event in my religious life."

Thank goodness for Jimmy Carter - Carter's malaise and ineptness ushered in Ronald Reagan - had it not been for Carter's inability and incompetence our country might never have known the sunshine, prosperity, optimism, and brilliance of Reagan's eight years in office. May providence again favor our country with another leader of Reagan's stature -

"Former Vice President Al Gore will speak about environmental concerns today and former President Clinton will speak Friday."...........................

clinton can speak about immorality, he can speak about public deceit, he can speak in support of abortion and he can speak in support of the gay community to name a few. i'm not judging whether he's saved or not but i could find a better speaker to represent the faith, oops maybe he is exactly the right one to support the liberal christian agenda !?
as far as carter goes - he's proven himself as man of action in the faith community, which is more than many of us can say. as i understand it, he considers people such as myself fundamentalist (i.e. evangelicals) and apparently has disdain for my sort, but nonetheless he has demonstrated his faith through works, to his credit.

"We do not have to countenance the heaving of contempt on God's creation," Gore said.

I guess if, like the rest of the "progressive" liberal folks attending this debacle, you have no real biblical agenda, you have to invent and devise some socio-political evil to champion.

I was sorry to hear that black Baptists had been hoodwinked into joining this group. They've always seemed to be conservative and faithful. Unfortunately,t there's no pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow (coalition) but rather a godless morass of humanism and Christian-sounding heresy.

Wonder if they invited John Spong and the rest of the fast-apostasizing liberal deceivers. Wonder who else was on the menu? The Dalai Lama? I'm afraid to find out.

I wonder if they passed a resolution calling for and end to baby murder; or called gay marriage an abomination. I guess Gore & company find it just fine to heave contempt on God's infallible Word by going along with the secular culture's godless and unbiblical fare. Thank God the SBC ousted their likes!!
