Serious election issues overlooked

"On Yom Kippur, Jews recite a prayer that begins, "For the sin that we have sinned against You ...," says Rabbi Fred Guttman of Temple Emanuel. "I left New Orleans thinking that as Americans, we should be reciting a prayer which says, "For the sin that we have sinned against you by forgetting New Orleans and our brothers and sisters who live there."

"After the election is over, may we not have to say a prayer that would read, "For the sin which we have committed against you by sanctifying the trivial and ignoring the important!"

While it may SEEM trivial to focus on the patriotism and commitment to traditional American values; it really is not. It is not actually ABOUT lapel pins and sermon segments; it IS about leading this country to the far left (“classism” is a Marxist buss word), which Obama’s revelations and actions point to. It is very appropriate to ask hat's lurking behind the scenes in Obama's past associations, writings and speeches. Connecting the dots, as trivial as they may SEEM, is therefore extremely important; because the entire future of our culture and nation depend on the spiritual, philosophical and economic systems we operate from. Rabbi Gutman's article, like Mill Moyer’s insipid interview with the radical left-wing Rev. Wright are transparent liberal attempts to deflect the public's concerns over these radical deviations from American core values, and to shield Obama from the scrutiny he deserves.

Of course there are legitimate concerns over the Katrina tragedy, but Gutman’s final statements are just a continued reiteration of the liberal attempt to saddle the Bush administration with most of the blame for it happening in the first place, and the response which ensued. It was simply a NATURAL disaster of unprecedented proportions, and predictable human failures AT ALL LEVELS. Hindsight is always 20/20, is it not? This is just political spin. How much mileage can the left get out of this tragic occurrence. The practical concerns he mentioned are legitimate, the political spinning was not.
