Would anyone have noticed this story if the book inquestion had been "The Grapes of Wrath" or "Catcher in the Rye"? :?

But it was a Bible! I guess divine providnce and protection are not associated with these two books. More like hopeless existential suffering and misery.

But they COULD stop a bullet, if they were in the right place.

You are absolutely correct, Namtac. They would indeed stop a bullet - together; maybe Grapes of Wrath by itself. But my thin paperback copy of Catcher when I was in H.S. could never have. You have to admit that here's nothing like a big thick black Bible to stop a careening bullet - especially when placed (providentially) in the RIGHT place!

I have a copy of "Atlas Shrugged" that'd stop a 50mm slug from a machine gun. Talk about prtective wording! :P

Perhaps though it would be better to just shrug and duck the RANDom missile. Although we don't see eye-to-eye on many things, I don't advise testing your thesis; because the longer you're around, the more opportunity you have to be an object of God's sovereign grace - and the more interesting this blog. Well, I'll quit now - I'm out of ammunition.
