"James Dobson Does Not Speak For Me"

Sparks are flying in the 2008 culture wars.
The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, leader of the largest Methodist congregation in the country, launched a website yesterday titled "James Dobson Does Not Speak For Me." The site is a jab at Dobson, a stalwart of the religious right who this week called Sen. Barack Obama's interpretation of the Bible in a 2006 speech distorted "to fit (Obama's) own world view, his own confused theology."

It's going to be interesting, now that Obama is starting to direct his appeal to less-than-politically-radical evangelicals. The press calls them "the Christian Left," but many that I've known in the past and present are NOT "left" in the classic sense of the term. But they sure aren't anywhere near Dobson or his type theologically.

I think it may be fun to see these factions warring over possession of the word "evangelical" over the coming years.

Christians will war over many things, especially the evangelical branches. I am saddened that there is a "warring" nature to Christians period. There have been wars since time began. These wars have solved absolutely nothing! Yet, wars continue to take place. Why not give peaceful resolutions a chance instead of this silly "warring" nature? People would be surprised at what may transpire!

Who does Dobson speak for? It's never been clear to me. The amount of air time that he is given is disproportionate to the micro segment of the Christians he claims to represent. So, the question remains -- why do the networks and C-Span for that matter give him so much air time?

People you ar being deceived by this charlatan Barack Hussein Obama. Read what the Bible says in Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22. James Dobson does speak for me & conservative Christians and not liberals.
Scripture tells us that you will know them by their fruit. Obama bears the fruit of Abortion, partial birth abortion & the homosexual agenda. If that is Christian then Jesus is a liar.
