Now that it's down to two major candidates...
Who's going to get the evangelicals?
Obama has his problems -- he's even exchanging words with prominent evangelical James Dobson of Focus on the Family.
McCain is also struggling to gain traction -- and he and Dobson have their own problems.

I expect the Evangelical vote to be a wash this cycle. The difference will be told outside of that venue, hopefully.

I think the evangelical voting block has had its moments of solidarity in past elecetions, but it's just too amorphoous and undependable to bank on in this cyle. Its prime issues have been either watered down or ignored, and the candidates are not clear on them either. It may coalesce in the end, but I'd be surprized. They are looking for a candidate who takes bold, unequivocal stands on thier issues. This has not happened, and so they will either vote in protest or not at all. And the fact that some are supporting Obama shows just how doctrinally weak and fickle evangelicals have become. The election will have to be won by the Republicans w/o firm, predictable evangelical support. Good luck!
