Police say they were training to wage holy war

BEIJING (AP) | Police fatally shot five members of a purported radical Islamic separatist group in the far west of China as Beijing tightened security ahead of next month's Olympic Games, state media reported Wednesday.
The suspects confessed they had all received training in waging a holy war, Xinhua reported.

Well, at least it's interesting to watch two of our enemies go at it: one atheistic and the other a false religion. The Chicoms want thier games and land, and the Islamic militants want their Sharia and soevereignty. It does show that not all governments are as lenient and stupid as ours tends to be regarding Islam's darker side. The plotters in the US are no less militant and extreme than the ones in this Chinese province. Most US mosques are breeding grounds for take-over (to one extent or another), but we are too stupid and "inclusive" to see it - much less do anything about it - until the next 9/11, that is.

So I take it you are cheering for the Atheists to win this one.
Hmmm....

Actually, Alice, I don't want either to "win" in the sense of killing the other. It was just a way of expressing the irony of the situation. I confess it was a bit edgy. My apologies. It's just rather interesting to be watching it from the sidelines, as it were, rather than being attacked ourselves by either.

Even though we have somewhat normative relations with China, we should never simply assume that Communism is a "friend" of the US. Certainly the direction we are going is greatly to be preferred over total distrust and armed conflict, such as we have with Al Queda.

I do maintain that we are utterly naive (stupid, PC) in thinking that Islam is a peaceful, tame little religion that just wants its place at the table of American religious pluralism. If they put out PR to this end, it is only a temporary means toward eventual dominance and culture-wide implementation of Sharia. To assume otherwise is just wishful thinking, based on ignorance and political expediency. Unfortunately it could well be a deadly misapprehension.
