Another 9/11 perspective

On 9/12, my 22-year-old son told me he was going to enlist, says Norman Jameson, editor of the Biblical Recorder. I asked why.

"To fight the people who did this to us," he said.

"And who is that?" I asked.

An excellent commentary! I applaud Mr. Jameson on a well written piece.

"Jews bury the dead and move toward tomorrow. In the outstanding book Kite Runner, even the Muslim Baba admired the Jews for how they moved forward after every tragedy. If people in areas that suffer constant tragedies memorialized each like we “American Christians” do, their lives would grind to a halt."

I beg to differ, Darryl. I think this piece was a pile of unadulterated self-deprecating manure - common in today's American-bashing environment.

Again, the Jews are always the wonderful, enlightened super-persons; and everyone else, especially “American Christians,” are their inferior. I admire their tenacity as well; but they’re NOT special in this regard, and I think we’ve been VERY restrained in our response to the horrors of 9/11. I support both military offensives, although I do question the strategic choice of the Iraq invasion; but I think we're redeeming it quite well. Thanks, brave soldiers!

I mean, OF COURSE, the Jews move on! They have NO CHOICE. And by the way SO HAVE WE! Their tragedies are much more intermittent; ours was unusual, sudden and catastrophic. So of course we “memorialize” such a single mammoth assault upon our homeland. I think they should have shown the towers coming down OFTEN on TV, and we should have supported the Mideast offensives as a unified nation, determined to rid the world of Al Qaeda and Islamist terrorism ASAP – but the Dems saw a golden opportunity to advance their chances of winning in ’08. Thank God, somebody at the helm had the strength and chutzpah to take it to the terrorists to the extent he was able – albeit imperfectly (as ALL warfare has been since the dawn of history). I’m currently reading about military actions across the centuries, and NOT ONE was perfectly administered; and were filled with setbacks, mistakes, miscalculations, over-responses, et al. It’s only human – but somebody won in ALL cases. We need to make sure we’re the winners in this great global confrontation. We can, if the libs will have done with their dangerous political posturing to win elections.
