Has it really come to this?

Have we learned nothing about the things that should be precious, especially from 9/11 til now?

Sadly in some cases, memories of trauma are short-lived. It's true that people in general ought to know better than to stampede in an effort to save a few bucks. That should be true, regardless of the past.

I say that it's sad that reactions to trauma are short-lived, but that is only in a few cases. We as a society forget lessons that should be learned from things like 9/11 or the various genocides that have happened through history. But if we made those a priority in our lives, we would end up being paralyzed by unending grief.
