Our church worked at Potter's House last night preparing food for dinner. One of our members is a professional Santa and came to say grace and share time with the people as they ate. Last year he did the same thing. Last year there was a sense of joy and hopefulness at having Santa visit, a feeling of the holidays. This year there was a distinct difference in the atmosphere of the dining room. There was a feeling of deep dispair and hopelessness. There was no sense of joy at seeing Santa come visit. I noticed that there was much less talking and nearly no laughter in the dining room while everyone was eating.
