North High Point & Jamestown

A Terry Grier obsession

OK, I've got to put a rant of my own in here...

Is everyone in north High Point only interested in writing about Terry Grier?

If anyone in north High Point or Jamestown has ANY OTHER ISSUE that interests him or her, please post a comment.

If you want to talk about Grier or anti-Grier bumper stickers, please contact the chalkboard.

I'm reasonably sure that there are at least SOME north High Point and Jamestown residents who don't have an obsession with our superintendent.

There may even be some who actually care about, say, what there is to do in north High Point and Jamestown. Or have concerns about other issues related to living in those communities. Or are just not interested in reading a litany of posts about the High Point school choice plan.

If I'm wrong...my bad.

To clarify, my comment above is based on observations made of other residents while living out here.

YOUR bad.

Justin,
I live in SW Greensboro but am closely associated with my Jamestown and North High Point neighbors since my neighborhood is districted to High Point schools.
Just a thought....its not Terry Grier that all are obsessed with, it is our children. For many, we would love nothing more than to think about something else and return to a "normal" life. However, the past 14 months or so have caused such a disruption to what our plans were that everything is up in the air. Do we sell our house?, if so...where do we go?, Do we send our child to private school?, If so which one and where does the money come from?, Do we get another job to pay for it? the list and the questions go on and on.
I know to those who havn't gone through this ordeal, it all seems a bit "obsessive". I only hope that you and others will not have to experience the turmoil that many of us have.

What do I do for fun in Jamestown and North High Point? Enjoy the little things that are taken for granted because tomorrow it might be taken away, church, and SW baseball!

Obsessed with Terry Grier...I don't think so! Obsessed with whats best for my family....without a doubt and without apology!

YOU GO GIRL!!!

Kay, Thanks for your reasoned and impassioned comment on the schools situation.

All I'm trying to do is offer a forum for folks in north High Point and Jamestown who want to discuss issues not related to Guilford County Schools. I believe such issues exist because I write frequently about them.

My goal is not to be callous or to seem uncaring about the school choice plan. It's simply to try to curtail comments on this blog about it.

I'm glad you find pleasures in the simple things there are to do in north High Point. I do too...taking my son over to Deep River Park and watching him laugh with delight as he goes down the slides...taking him to Harris Teeter and helping him learn words with the help of produce (Apple, Parker-John. Apple.)...going to Panera Bread on Saturday mornings to have great coffee and read a book.

I've lived at the beach and in Las Vegas, but I wouldn't have wanted to raise my child in either place.

I love north High Point. My regular joke is to say, It's not a great place to visit, but it is a great place to live and to raise a family.

This will be short as I hadn't planned to post here.

Kay's blog was right on target.

You must be new to the blogging world as that is why people blog so they can speak freely.

I loved in Virginia Beach for 23 years - loved it. Had the best schools.

I used to say too it might be tougher to raise a teen their because of the lore of the beachfront, and kids wanting after prom parties in a hotel room. Now in hind sight, that would have been much easier to deal with.

Correction to your last sentences Justin. It is not a great place to visit and it used to be a great place to raise a family, that is before they took away our neighborhood school and shipped our kids on a 90 minute bus ride across town.

THE END

Look at that Justin. The very things you mentioned that you like in North High Point involved your CHILD! What if we said, "We don't want to hear about your child! Your child is not important here!"

Basically that is what you told us.

btw, an "obsession" with Terry Grier...I think not. The very thought of the man makes me vomit a little in my mouth. An obsession with getting rid of him...YEAH!!

You can't tell people to curtail what they say and be a successful blogger. Please go take out Blogging for Dummies from your High Point Library.
Bloggins is all about freedom of expression.
