Welcome, neighbors.
Hello, north High Point and Jamestown residents and aficionados. I'm one of you. I live in Waterford Meadows, off of Skeet Club Road, with my wife, 16-month-old son and two dogs: Murphy and Elvis. I collect snowdomes and read voraciously.
But enough about me. This is your blog. It will contain information and conversation about issues of interest to those of us in the Jamestown/High Point area: development, sprawl, schools, entertainment, etc. I'm open to any number of additional topics.
And I hope this blog will alert me to stories about my neighbors and community. I don't mean "stories" in a gossipy, "Desperate Housewives" sort of way. I'm talking about tales of ordinary folks doing interesting and/or extraordinary things. Some call these human-interest stories. I call them backyard epics.
Please drop me a line. You can suggest conversational topics, chat about yourself and your concerns, tell me about interesting neighbors or neighborhood events, vent about your concerns or just say, "Hello."

Justin,
As a reader of your work, resident of North High Point and an active blogger, I look forward to what may grow here. Welcome!

Good luck with the blog, Justin.

Justin,
It's nice that the News-Record decided to invest in a blog dedicated to North High Point/Jamestown, but my question is "Why?". What is it about this small part of the county that justifies it's own blog site? Heck, this neighborhood doesn't even have its own neighborhood schools.
Is the News-Record planning on starting up a blog dedicated to every small neighborhood in its reading area? What about us in the Northwest? We deserve a blog as well, and I am sure that your readers in Liberty, Summerfield, Burlington, and Trinity do as well. What's your plan here, divide the whole readership area into little neighborhood blogs? If it is, that'll mean a whole slew of blogs for the News-Record to manage.

Justin, welcome to the neightborhood.
As a new resident to the area it sounds like you may not have a "Get Terry Grier Outta Here" car magnet. Please arrange for a mutally convenient time to pick one up. I should caution you that the area you are living in goes without representation on the School Board.
I don't know of many people that live in Waterford Meadows whose children qualify for free and reduced lunches at school. Therefore I would recommend putting your name on a waiting list for one of those hybrid cars for future car pooling to school.
Much like Teddy I am confused as to why we are being offered our own Blogsite.

Why a north High Point and Jamestown blog? A good question.
I'm not exactly sure why the "powers that be" were eager for one. But my guess is that it's because both are growing communities with growing readership.

Why ask why? Blogs are the "in" thing so the News & Record wants the everywhere!!
Coming soon to a town near you.

As for me, I will stick to the Chaulkboard. The county is trying to isolate us enough by giving us the Twilight Zone District. Remember my email reply to your newspaper article about your dream of what was to come to North High Point. I said keep dreaming - people are leaving and businesses follow the demographics, etc.
Remember I said my dream is of more private schools.
See everyone over at the CB - where we can all be part of the entire county - at least we have that left - a website for EVERYONE concerned with school issues.
Great marketing ploy - but don't think it will work.

Justin,
Many of us remember you since last May and your numerous daily phone calls to many people regarding a certain subject about a certain person. The daily calls were totally uncalled for.
I have one final thing then I am back at the CB. If you keep collecting snowdomes, they may be worth something some day and you can save all that money for private school or a new home where you have a true choice as to where to send your child to school.

Justin,
Welcome to the blogosphere. I see you've started off with a bang already. :)
Good luck!

I think that you better have the powers that be check their readership rolls again. My friends who live in that area tell me that they are moving their subscription from the N-R to the "new" High Point Enterprise, because they see it as more friendly to their values and views.

Teddy,
I think it is because they want to know who and what they are dealing with - GCS - that is.
Remember the saying "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer." Kind of a psychological little game.
Seems like a lot of N HP folks not to happy with GCS so of course that would come out.
This is definitely it - see you over at the CB with THE REST OF THE COUNTY.

clarification:
"definitely it" for posting that is, not
for why the powers that be want a web site for the Twilight Zone District
