North High Point vs. High Point
Someone posted a comment about my obsession with north High Point. It's a fair observation.
My obsession stems from the fact that I'm a journalist who is assigned to cover north High Point and Jamestown. Therefore, I earn my living by writing about these communities. My guess is, you're also pretty obsessed with the things that yield you a paycheck.
Anywho...let's ponder this hypothetical question...
Should north High Point become its own separate city? Do you already consider yourself part of a different town? Do you associate more with Greensboro than with High Point?
And if we had a new community, what would it be called...
Greenpoint (already in use)
Highboro (kinda weird)
Skeetclubville (too long)
Sprawlsville (maybe)

I have lived here for 3 years and I've been using "N. High Point" on all mail for over a year now. I haven't had any problems and would suggest that everybody start doing it.
We have the best restaurants, ice cream stores and movie theater. There are only 3 things we need that Dot's neighborhood has: a library, a neighborhood high school and a school board representative.

GSD don't forget about the jumping night life on Main Street and the several tatoo parlors. Dot's neighborhood has those too. You can get a tatoo and take out a book in one day.

Yankee Dog,did I understand you right that Dot has a tatoo? Or did you mean Tatu from Fantasy Island fame? If you meant Tatu I am sure he will be saying "hey boss the plane"; as students are flown in each day for the latest magnet program.

That's affirmative, Tatersmaters, on tatoo. The one building has flames from hell on the outside. Kind of matches parts of that end of town. Maybe it is a symbol of the kids having to go through "hell" with the High Point lottery plan. It might be just a warning to appreciate the long, hot bus rides to Central stating that it could be worse. Do ya think?
As for Tatu, he will be saying "hey boss the plane" as people fly out to get as far away as they can from Guilford County Schools. Would that be considered too transcient?

True, Yankee Dog, I forgot about all the tattoo parlors. Also, don't forget the biker bar on Westchester and the Body Piercing place on Main.
Darn! We're missing out!
