Hey Amy,
Where are all of those kids going to go to school?
Given that schools in that area are far over-capacity, are the planning officials going to consider where all those class seats are going to come from?
They oughta.

I'm not sure of the attendance lines for schools in that area, so I won't even venture a guess.
But when the city's planning staff completes their report to the Planning and Zoning Commission it will note which schools the development will send students to and how many students it's projected to send. That's usually released the Friday before the commission's meeting and we will write a story based on their report and include that information.
As for planning officials considering where the class seats will come from, High Point officials do require developers to meet certain requirements. But school capacity is not one of them.
That is because the city cannot decide where new schools are built or where students are assigned. The county is the government agency responsible for building enough classrooms to accommodate students.
However, High Point does let the school system know when a new development is approved.

I think this is a terrible idea. When it is going to be enough? Has anyone from the city government ever actually tried to drive in this area? You can hardly do it now, I would hate to see it if this project is ever built.
