More north High Point developments...
The Planning and Zoning Commission will be taking a look at two developments tomorrow that affect north High Point. Each are the far ends of "North High Point" though.
The first is an annexation and zoning request up on Sandy Ridge Road that would allow River Landing to add 43 new cottages and assisted living apartments. Seven more beds would be added to its nursing and convalescent care facility.
The other is just south of the mall on Eastchester Drive and involves rezoning almost an entire city block so Vann York Auto Mall can add a Toyota dealership.

Hmm, 2 years ago, High Point's Planning Director came up with the so-called "Noise Abatement Plan" and told everyone that the only way to save High Point from lawsuits was to force North High Point to attach warnings on their property that they were unsuitable for residential development. He also tried to rezone everything north of Hickswood for mixed-use industrial & commercial. Now, a mere 2 years later, he gives his approval to expand a rest home? What gives?

Ted, River Landing is in Zone 4 of the noise plan area. My understanding of the plan is that new housing is permitted in Zone 4 with central air conditioning. In Zones 1 and 2, which are closer to the airport, new housing isn't permitted.

I propose any new developments in North High Point or Jamestown that bring in new students should be forced to Home School.
THERE'S NO ROOM AT THE INN!!!!!!
