Tex & Shirley's ...

We all know it's coming. Hard to miss that big sign off Wendover Ave. But the burning question is when, right?

Gilbert Jones, general manager of the Greensboro store, says it should be open the first week of December, if everything goes according to plan. The menu will be identical to the one at the Friendly Center although the store is a little bit larger.

It's going to be tough for them to beat K&W's price on breakfast, but I love another pancake option!

Besides, Carter Brothers is just TOO busy and they could use a little competition.

I love Carter Bros. and God Bless them. It's a fun place to go and the service is fast. The food is good. The Carter brothers have done so much for this community. They are not open on Sundays and that's okay.

However, Tex & Shirley's will give us a Sunday morning option.

Yep Tim Brown - the gang and pancakes!

Is Tex & Shirleys a K & W type place?

Posted by: Andy at December 1, 2005 9:35 PM

I've never been there Andy, so I can't really tell ya. Hopefully someone else will jump in here and give you the scoop.

When I was a kid my grandpa and I would drive right past Tex & Shirley's to go to the K&W over at Friendly Center. That was his favorite place to eat.

Since I moved to the Triad three months ago, I haven't gotten around to trying it out. Now that it's about to open in High Point, I'm sure I will.
