This just in...

... actually it was a couple of hours ago. (Sorry, I had to write a story first).

Longtime Jamestown Town Manager John Frezell announced his retirement Monday night at the end of a special council meeting. The retirement is effective May 31, 2006.

Frezell, who has held the job for 25 years, said he's ready to spend more time with his wife, and wanted to leave while he's still relatively healthy.

Dear Mayor and Town Council:

Over the past 25 years, it has been with much pride that I have been able to participate in the growth and prosperity of the Town of Jamestown and its citizens. But with all great journeys, they also come to an end.

So it is with sorrow and trepidation that I have decided to end this journey so that I can start a new one. Therefore, I am announcing that I plan to retire effective May 31, 2006.

Sincerely, John J. Frezell
