Another north High Point annexation

If you missed the story today here's the short end of it. The owners of a 35-acre chunk of land on Gallimore Dairy Road are seeking to get it annexed and zoned for industrial use.

The area is in Zone 1 of the airport noise plan, meaning a residential subdivision couldn't be built there.

The planning commission will be taking a look at it tomorrow.
When: 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13
Where: City Council Chambers, 211 S. Hamilton St. High Point

Jonathan,

Originally the Guilford College Road relocation was scheduled to be complete by the end of this calendar year. While it looks very, very, very close, it has not yet opened.

Can you find out when it is scheduled to open? What's the delay?

Thanks!

Jonathan,

While you're at it, can you check the schedule for the completion of Piedmont Parkway? It currently stops at Wendover, but they are in the process of building it through to 68.

Thanks!

You're a good boy, Jonathon Jones.

Answer on the Piedmont Parkway: It's scheduled to open in July 2007.

Answer on the Guilford College Road: You're right that it was supposed to finished by the end of the year, but the target date has been pushed back to middle of February. I'm working on gettng an explanation of this into the paper edition, probably sometime over the weekend. When it runs, I'll put more info here.

Jonathan,

Thanks much for the info on the road situation. You know both of those roads will substantially shorten the drives of North High Pointers to Ragsdale and Southwest schools.

Quest,

If you can think of any commuters/parents who are wanting to use that road and would be willing to talk to me for my story, I'd greatly appreciate a contact. It always makes a story a bit better when you can talk to someone who is directly affected by something. I can be reached at jjones@news-record.com or 883-4422 ext. 228, but I'd need to hear from them by Friday afternoon.

Jonathan,

I'll try to find someone with whom you could speak regarding the opening of these roads. I know many, many people, but I'm not sure that they would want to be interviewed.

Thanks for the article in today's paper. I noticed that the GC relocation has moved from completion in December to February and now to the end of March. Still - it will be finished in plenty of time for the new school year.

Now, can you write a story on the Piedmont Parkway expansion?

Thanks!
