Day spas at the dentist?
Did you see the story today?
That's right: People apparently want to get a massage, then their teeth cleaned. I think I'd probably need to be the other way around.
It's interesting though. I wonder how well it'll go over.
For whatever reasons, I think of a dentist's office pampering its clients like that to be more likely in Cary than High Point.
Then again, I'm also the type of person who hates, absolutely hates, will invent reasons out the wazoo to not have to, going to the dentist. So the idea that giving patients something to make them relax before a visit makes some sense.

Hey. With this new zoning, what's to keep some of those "massage studios" up on Lee Street in Greensboro from moving into High Point?

Norskar, you've got a point.
The proposed change does include a definition for "day spa" that says services must be performed by a "trained professional." It would also restrict day spas in the office district from being larger than 1,200 square feet, having more than three employees, and having outside displays.
Maybe the tight restrictions would be enough to keep the types of places you're talking about out of the office districts. I don't know.
The definition makes me laugh a bit at the "trained professionals" part. What's professional about being a masseuse? You see I'm one of those people who hates to see the meaning of words degraded.
I realize that "professional" slipped a long time ago, but I still think of professions as those jobs for which one must study extensively, e.g. doctor, lawyer, dentist, pharmacist, before being licensed.
Heck, I'm even a member of the "Society of Professional Journalists" but believe my job, like that of a masseuse or football player, is a trade.
But that's off topic.
