Just a reminder
The Eastchester development near Big Lots, the one that has twice been recommended approval by the planning board and failed once in front of the City Council, is up for a fourth public hearing tonight. This time it's back in the City Council's court. It failed to win a super-majority after neighbors filed a protest petition last fall.
Tuesday update: Council delayed making a decisoin on the development until April 4, when it will continue the hearing started last night.
What: Public hearing on mixed-use development
Where: City Council Chambers, City Hall, 211 S. Hamilton St.
When: 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Seeing as how the High Point City Council has never seen a housing development proposal it didn't love, this will pass easily tonight.
It might have been harder to justify it had the N&R pointed out the obvious by pointing out the city traffic department recently revealed that this development is right next to an intersection that ranks second in the city when it comes to serious car accidents. (I read about the intersection's No. 2 ranking in the High Point Enterprise today).

Well Reality Realtor, the police put those accident figures out a week after the last time I wrote about the development.
And your prediction that it would easily pass was a bit off the mark. I understand from Sue Schultz, who was covering the city council meeting tonight, that after roughly three hours of discussion, the development was sent to a committee for further review. I'll put something up tomorrow when I know more. She was in rush to get her story filed and I to get home.
And I take it, RR, that you missed when those intersections were noted here a couple of weeks ago?

As long as somebody in High Point, like realtors, will turn a dollar it will eventually go through. Obviously quality of life doesn't enter the equation. Look at the school nonsense.
