Sprechen sie Deutsch
Don't know about you, but my inbox was flooded with nasty German spam this weekend. Even though I took a couple years of German in college, I couldn't translate much of it. (Neither sauerbraten nor Lowenbrau were mentioned.) According to Editor & Publisher, here is what it was.

From the front page of the WaPo this afternoon: "Almost a year after they first appeared, hundreds of German-language junk e-mails are once more sprouting up in many people's inboxes."
I got none but I have a spamblocker. Everyone needs one and everyone resents paying for it.

We have one, too, but ever since I started leaving my real e-mail address on blog comments....:)

That's what gmail is for.

My Gmail and Yahoo accounts blocked all of it. As a matter of fact: Gmail and Yahoo SPAM blocking is better than many SPAM blocking services. (Not knowing what everyone else is using I can't say if they're better than yours) That's why I don't use the e-mail that comes with my many domains.

I have to agree about Gmail - it's head and shoulders above anything else I've used, and I've been an e-mail whore for years. I can download and mail myself or other people giant documents, dozens of high quality pictures, entire albums or audio-books with the tremendous capacity it provides.
But more important than that it makes it easy to organize and search for the things you do want and to block the things you don't.
On the German spam front -- has anyone else noticed that Germany and Japan, two of the countries with languages hardest on the ear, also produce some of the most insane, surreal, dusgusting and sometimes borderline violent spam-pornography in the world? When I get pornographic spam I always take a look - if only because of the hilarious ad copy. But when it's in German or Japanese I'll usually take a pass - epsecially if it's before my morning coffee.
