Alum news

Ben Feller, who covered Guilford County government and politics for us in the late 90's and early 00's and now covers education for the Associated Press, will be assigned to the White House beat for the AP after the November mid-terms. (That assumes he'll pass the Secret Service investigation, which, given his past here.... I'm not saying anything about the Girls Gone Wild taping.)

I highly doubt you'd ever mention anyone who went to a smaller paper by choice to run their intensely local coverage or focus on chicken dinner coverage or "neighbors" type info.

Your "alum news" is precisely (part) of what is wrong with Journalism -- it rewards those who move on to BIGGER AND BETTER, while essentially punishing or ignoring those who do good, solid work that really makes people want to read the paper.
