As a worst-case planner in business (what happens when that hard drive fails?), I still can't get over the lack of a plan to deal with the sudden loss of a school for a period of time. Although a fire and total loss of a building is extreme, the idea that a school might be unusable for a period of weeks is not that untenable or unexpected. Floods. Chemicals. It's happened elsewhere.
Isn't such disaster planning a 'normal' part of preparedness, especially with the post 9/11 mindset we all have?
The N&R has big-time back for its data, right? You spent weeks or more getting ready for the big Y2K silliness because it was prudent. As a company, we refuse to install servers with no backup drives. So much of what we do is about business continuity and restoration. Why not schools?

You're right, Sue, and I don't know that we've gone very far down this alley of inquiry. Good idea. We'll follow up.
