The Rhino v. KKK, cont.

Perhaps just to show how ornery they really are, representatives of the KKK left one of their fliers providing voting advice on my driveway this morning, Election Day. It was wrapped around a couple pages of The Rhino, and included the disclaimer "The attached newspaper/magazine is for weight purposes and should not be considered an endorsement of either; this flyer, The Knights Party or WWW.KKK.COM."

Thanks, but I voted early.

If this goes to court, you're going to get called as witness. Congrats :)

So is this a sour-grapes kinda thing because the KKK doesn't consider the News & Record "weighty" enough?
Many of us readers don't, either. :)

I know the N&R is delivered to homes daily, but because the Rhino is not delivered wouldn't the KKK be littering? And do they have to have any sort of permit? About 25 years ago I started a small business and came up with the bright idea that I would distribute fliers. At noon, after having placed 1000 printed fliers on cars and at people's door steps in the nicer areas of town, I returned home to find a Greensboro Police Officer standing at my door politely explaining that if I didn't retrace my steps and pick up those 1000 printed fliers then he would politely take me to jail.

It was a lot more fun distributing fliers than picking them up.

Billy, I'm not really the one to ask. Our understanding is that if a product considered to be "advertising" in nature is delivered to someone's driveway, it's considered litter. An "editorial product" is viewed differently and is more acceptable, but it's up to the city to make the determination if it is litter.

They should have used your paper, John considering the N&R is just as obsessed about race as they are.

Equating us with the Klan? Please don't insult our readers, Samuel.

John,

You do a great job.

It sure is tough to find good help nowadays...sigh...

thanks

I didn't equate you with the Klan, just pointed out a common obsession with all things concerning race.
