The Scene at GoTriad.com
This morning we launched a mega-monster arts and entertainment site. Called Scene, it's a partnership with GoTriad.com, the United Arts Council and the Convention & Visitor's Bureau. It's searchable by keyword, and includes show information, artist profiles and reviews, and information about workshops, recreation, health events, festivals and activities for families. There are so many tabs -- 13 -- that we couldn't fit them all on one line.
Organizations can add listings, and artists can add profiles and samples of their work. Some profiles are already there, so, Jay, get your buds on the site! We're enabling user reviews, too, so leave your comments on the artists' work.
It has many more features than I list here. Check it out.

Why is it on a subdomain for dreamhosters.com?

The Scene is using technology provided by a company called Artsopolis - www.artsopolis.com. They host the information and are serving it up through that domain.

so, now I have THREE urls and sites to keep track of to get info?
news-record.com
gotriad.com
and now scene?
what is the difference between gotriad.com and scene?
is there yet another site I have to scan through to try to find entertainment events?
have u guys thought of actually making ONE GOOD entertainment site -- with searches that actually work? AND a good restaurant database? (and dont try telling me what you have now is good...)

OK.. I just tried to use the scene site and, uh, it's quite disappointing -- and confusing.
so, I figured I'd like to see what live music events might be happening friday night..
I click on the date Friday and get a list of all kinds of events, but at least music is segregated... but, there's only ONE event!
then, I decide this must just be an overview... let me drill down using the advanced search
so, I choose music and the start and end dates (which make me select from SIX different drop downs! no defaults..)
I dont know what act I am looking for, I just hit Search
ONE EVENT.. the same one .. comes up
so, now, I go back over to gotriad.com. I go into music and click on the calendar day of friday and get catapulted BACK to Scene! (with the same measley musical event listed for Friday night)
at this point I go back to gotriad and click on a link on the music page that says "this months event listings" and get sent to a page not found that eventually sends me BACK to scene...
in the meantime, I notice several music events listed on the music front of gotriad.. but that's it.. none of them seem to be for Friday. and I'm not sure if they are even in the database...
so, after all this, I can't find more than ONE musical event for Friday night in Greensboro?!?!?!
not only that, I end up bouncing back and forth from one site to another having to figure it all out each time?
has ANYONE there ever heard of Metromix?

On a related note, when my computer has trouble loading the N&R page, which is frequent, I usually see "waiting for www4.gotriad.com" in the loading window in the lower left corner of my screen. Seems they might have a slow server or something that clogs up your site loading.

Unfortunately, we're all aware of the slow loads on our sites. The company that hosts them is in the process of moving them to a new environment in hopes that it will help, but we've been down that road before. And we are exploring new hosting options. But I'm afraid for now there will be times when the sites get hung up.

What about all the other problems -- how come there are no music events? There must be more than ONE in the Triad tonight.. right?
and why is it all so hard to navigate and figure out what site I'm on and what to click on????
why do I get tossed back and forth from one site to another?
