Amy's weight-loss challenge

Amy Dominello, who covers health, among other things, for us, is blogging about her weight-loss challenge.

You all can follow along as I try to shed some pounds and pick up some better habits.

I'll update you on my progress and challenges. I'll also post weight-loss related news when I see it.

But I'd also like to hear from those of you out there. Are you trying to get healthy? What are your challenges? What are your successes?

It's all related to this.

Now, I've told her that if she's going to do this right, she's going to have to reveal more of herself and tell us her height and weight, among other things. We need to get a picture of her and how far she has to go. (Not all that far, if you ask me, but what do I know.) She's working up to it so encourage her.

Isn't there some sort of federal law out there stating that a man can never ask a woman her weight? :)

But JR's got a point and he's not the only one I've heard it from.

So I'm fessing up. Check it out: www.news-record.com/weightloss.

Maybe someone here can help me out with one of those mystical things I simply don't understand: Why do overweight women wear makeup - I mean they obviously don't care what they look like so why do they even bother with silly stuff like eyeliner, lip gloss, etc. - not to even mention stuff like high heels, nail polish, earrings???

Holden: Andrew Dice Clay called. He thinks you're an idiot.

I realize you're just trying to start an argument here, Holden.

But I hope you're not suggesting that women who reach a certain weight should put on a muumuu and never leave their homes.

Clearly, most people take pride in their appearance. It's the same reason why you see some men suck up their gut or try and hide their bald-spot with a combover.

Please, no personal attacks.

Holden,
That's an odd and insulting question.
So should overweight men not shave or comb their hair or put on a tie?
Good luck Amy, you'll do well. I enjoy your blog. Eat vegetables.
