ACC belongs in Greensboro

The St. Petersburg Times waited until yesterday -- after two teams from North Carolina played in the ACC Tournament finals and left town -- to call us whiners.

Weekend whiners

The Greensboro News and Record led the charge of ACC traditionalists who spent last week obsessing and complaining about how the ACC tournament ventured outside of traditional ACC country by coming to Tampa Bay. That's understandable considering Greensboro, N.C., can't hang its hat on much else besides hosting the ACC basketball tournament. Yes, the tournament means more to the good folks of Greensboro, which is why the ACC consistently plays its tournament there. Tampa Bay isn't a threat to steal the event permanently. Who knows if it will ever come back again? So why not enjoy a little sunshine, some grouper sandwiches and your basketball, too, for one weekend?

Hey, we only whined because we weren't down there to buy the $10 tickets and take advantage of all those empty seats. We never get that opportunity up here.

Not related to the ACC, but I'm glad UNC won. Wondering if you can help John. I haven't been able to access the Letters to the Editor blog for the past two days. Based upon the very low number of comments, I would assume others have not either.

I called tech support at the N&R and he believes it's a problem with Typekey. That doesn't surprise me as Typekey has been very unreliable ever since it was implemented. Any way you can help? It's unfortunate to see such a popular blog reduced to nothing because of technical problems.

Dan, first I heard of it. Our folks are checking. Thanks.

Thanks John, some folks are getting though, but I can tell the numbers are much less than normal. I've tried from my office computer to no avail, tonight I'm using my laptop in a hotel room and it still won't work, so I know it's not unique to my office computer.

To clarify, I can read posts from others. When I try to sign in with Typekey it asks if I want to share my email address or not. Click yes and continue and it reverts right back to the Typekey sign in.

Dan, our webmaster asks this: Can you visit here and give us more detail about what you're seeing when you try to post? We're not encountering the difficulty on our end.

While I was sitting in the stands of the Greensboro Coliseum on Friday, March 2nd to watch UNC take on Virginia Teck in the 1st round of the Women's ACC Tournament, I thought to myself, "It would have been nice if the men's ACC Tournament also was in Greensboro." I am sadden that the Tournament ventured out of the Greensboro Coliseum. It should have stayed in Greensboro because North Carolina has the most ACC shcools in the State at four: UNC, N.C. State, Duke, and Wake Forest. A wonderful tradition was ruined!
