10 pounds of potatoes in a five-pound sack

Create tomorrow's newspaper front page:

From the national news:
* The Petraeus Iraqi war report.
* The sixth anniversary of 9/11.

Locally:
* A requested criminal investigation into the state audit findings at A&T.
* Local legislator reaction to the Petraeus report.
* A local 9/11 story.
* This quirky story of a highly visible court case 12 years ago.
* The General Assembly convening to talk about overturning the governor's veto.

Problem is, you've only got room for four stories. (And I haven't even included Britney Spears in a black-sequin bikini on the MTV Music Awards!)

You make the call.

Tuesday update: Here's the front page. At the time I wrote this post, we didn't have this story about Safety Town and the Legislature hadn't rescheduled its work until today.

1) Petraeus (with a gadget to the local angle wherever that ends up)
2) NC A&T
3) Charles Walker
4) The General Assembly

Why? Petraeus is the most important news of the day, even if it's not local.

The A&T story seems the most important of the local stories you listed because it has to do with possible corruption at a major public institution.

Charles Walker is the end of a long and tangled road the N&R has thoroughly documented and needs to be out front.

The General Assembly convening a special session to give away tax money is more important to me than an anniversary story -- speaking of which, I seriously doubt I'll read any 9/11 anniversary stories tomorrow. It will have to take something really different to make me want to read about it again.

Well considered, Jonathan, although I'm impressed you didn't go for the Britney bait.

I was tempted, but no, not really. Never cared much for what she was up to.
