Guilford Green

Morgan Josey, who has covered education for the past couple years, is moving to a new assignment: developing a comprehensive "green" site to report news, commentary and interaction on environmental issues.

Called Greening Guilford, the site has been around for awhile. Morgan developed the blog on her own based on an intense passion for the environment. She proposed expanding the idea into more than a personal blog as part of our innovation process, and here she is. Our loss on the education scene is our gain in the environment.

She'll explain further.

So, the News-Record is surrendering the Guilford County education beat to the Rhino, huh? Well, they have been beating you pretty badly on that scene with their superior and ore complete coverage.

Joe Stafford said:

Education is one of the most challenging problems that this State and this country faces. It is 1000 times more important than the environment. We really need two education reporters. Covering education is more than reporting on a few meetings. It involves a lot of time getting out in the schools and finding out what is working and not working. I wish Joey well. I am sorry education was not an ecxiting enough beat for her.
