After just a couple weeks, I've become an unabashed user of Twitter. I have met interesting people there, and they have tipped me to interesting stories and given me good ideas and advice. Better yet, it trains me to think and write in short bursts, which is always important for a journalist.
Much has been written about how quickly Twitter delivers the news, and it is true. I learn of news stories and blog posts before my RSS feed delivers them. Faster than Google alerts, too. I have followed Hanna through the tweets of Robyn Tomlin, executive editor of the Wilmington Star-News. We have a general news feed and a political news feed. Follow them.
And follow me.
Sunday update: The NY Times explains some of the Twitter phenomena.

Has anyone ever told you the idea of Twitter is to post in 140 characters or LESS! And use it throughout the day instead of posting all at once.
I opened Twitter (via Twitteroo) today, between the N&R and you - everyone else was bumped off the front page. It makes difficult to justify following both as when you post 5 or 6 at a time (or within an hour), I lose out on others I follow.
Remember Twitter is instantaneous, not a 6 AM edition.

I'm not sure your ruling on how to use Twitter is right, but that's OK. To each his own.
Our overnight feeds are dumped once a day, generally, and then updated throughout the day so you probably got caught in that.
As for me, I don't sit at the computer all day. I drop in thoughts when I have them. Only a few are two parts.

It's still a learning experience for everyone... Just as blogs are. Trying to find the right tools to make it all work is a struggle. It could be that the limits of Twitteroo - 20 messages - is not enough since I follow so many folks.

But, do you respond? A twitter account that only goes one way is useless.

Agreed, Robert.
