Troopergate

Many newspapers all over the country played "Troopergate" findings out of Alaska prominently. Some examples, and sorry for the pixillation:

The home paper:

The big West Coast paper:

A more conservative paper:

I just like the rest of the Chicago front page

Raleigh and Greensboro treated the story similarly

We thought it was front-page news, but, given the findings, didn't think it was such a huge deal that it needed to dominate the news cycle, particularly given the other things on people's minds.

How would you have played the story? Other front pages here.

It's just one more politically motivated "scandal" allegation in a slew of politically motivated allegations and probably deserves as much consideration as all the rest--very little.

It took a battery of some 30 lawyers who went to Alaska with the express purpose to discredit Sara Palin and all they could come up with is an abuse of power, how absurd! JR, I'll bet these same 30 lawyers could have found at sometime in your life you just might have, somewhere, somehow, someplace, abused the use of power, or worse, God help us if you took someone's little red wagon! The sky is falling on Wall St. and all these Liberal rags can find fit to print is about a very successful Govenor of Alaska, with an 80% approval rating, the US Democratic controlled Congress has an approval rating of 13% why don't you print that. Your worthless rag is even more corrupt and dishonest than the AP, , which is difficult to accomplish. Your headline, "Palin abused her power as governor" is dishonest and misleading, which was evidently your purpose.

In your print edition, stated in the FOURTH paragraph is the following, "Monegan's firing was lawful." You conveniently left that "little fact" out of your online edition.

In the SIXTH paragraph we read, "Palin violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Lawmakers don't have the authority to sanction her for such a violation." Then what was the purpose of this charade? I think we know the answer to that one!

Nowhere in the AP hit piece that you gleefully regurgitated like the liberal lapdogs you are, did you mention that the trooper she wanted removed, admitted to tasering his 10 year-old stepson, threatened the life of Palin's father, and two other violations. Nor did you, or the AP happen to mention the other stated, logical reasons given by Palin for wanting Monegan fired.

Also, indicative of your left wing bias, the AP and your rag failed to mention that Monegan worked "at the pleasure" of the Governor who could fire him for any reason, let alone defying the governor's edicts! And you wonder why your profession in the toilet, in demise, and despised by most people today. For the most part the American people are honest and fair, two qualities sadly lacking by the likes of your industry!

I don't think many people would consider the Washington Times a liberal rag.

More interesting news concerning your corrupt, dishonest industry.

A new poll indicates Americans think the media have been tougher on Republican candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin than their Democratic rivals.

A Pew Research poll says 38 percent of those surveyed believe journalists have been too harsh with Palin. Twenty-three percent say the media have been too tough on McCain.

In contrast, just seven percent think Barack Obama has been roughed up and only five percent believe that about Joe Biden.

Palin also gets the short end of the stick when it comes to fairness. Only 38 percent believe she has gotten a fair shake. Sixty-six percent say the media have been fair to Biden. Obama and McCain both came in at 60 percent.

So, back on topic, I guess you guys would have left it out of the paper?

yep......................not news worthy, however the story line should have been about all the lawyers and investigators it took to come up with such a lame attempt to discredit some one. Absolutely unbelieveable!

I'd ignore comments from the likes of Beau whose notion that these findings are the product of "a battery of some 30 lawyers" indicates he doesn't try much to comprehend current events anyway.

On the other hand, the more prominent Squirrel story might be right up his alley.

Now I know the problem. You can't read. IO explained fully in my post the problem with your dishonest article. Or you chose to ignore those points because there is no way to refute them.

The article is a lie, due to the many omissions. Even the AP article finally mentioned that her actions were lawful. If her actions were lawful, what is the story, other than continuing attempts by you media slugs to harm Sarah Palin because she is not one of you sick, left wing, abortion loving, God hating, secularists.

The Pew poll should tell you something, but it won't affect your dishonesty! You can't help it.

Awww, too easy. I can explain it in three words:

Johnson fires Wray.

Paul said:

This is proof positive how stupid Americans are. She abused her power no doubt and should be recalled for it but what will happen is people will argue about this and totally forget the real issues.
At least it is not the abortion bull yet, but give it time.

This clearly indicates your level of moronism with regard to your understanding of current events. Obama associates with know terrorist and that appears acceptable to you, but Palin fires an incompetent and your ready to scream holy murder. It's obvious you need more time with your analysis. Beau

Awwwwwww but JR I did it in such a tactful way....................

It appears the Neocons forget 3 crucial facts about the case:

1. The investigation was started by Republicans in Alaska. 2. The investigation was started BEFORE McCain announced that Sarah Palin would be his running mate. 3. The Alaskan legislative committee that investigated Palin was bipartisan Republican and Democratic.

Jen McCarthy said:

Of course it didn't belong on the front page or for that matter even in the paper. It is not race baiting. Unless the story can prove one race is dangerous why would you print ? Just because the Republican controlled Alaskan State Legislature determined that Gov Palin was a liar( "no I had nothing to do with TERRORIZING and firing an innocent employee") and that she had abused her power as Gov of Alaska why would you print it? You have only printed 10 solid days of Gov Palin calling other candidates liars and terrorists but that is front page news. Anything that might point out how Gov Palin's behavior has impacted one of the largest welfare states in the Union is not news worthy. Get back to race baiting it sells papers doesn't it?
