Two departures
Two folks are leaving us as part of the buyout program. Copy editor Frank Oathoudt and reporter Adria Hairston.
Frank came to us nearly 15 years ago, after a career in the military. In that time, he's done practically everything on the copy desk, including serving as our national editor. Like most of us, he has distinctive personality traits. For a while, he made sculpture out of plastic soda bottle caps. Like me, he usually has a bag of baby carrots to munch on. His devotion to getting it right never wavers.
Adria started here two years ago, about the time we launched the Guilford Records publications. She has written for all three of the Records, ranging from first-person columns to news stories about government machinations to human interest stories. She's also one of our go-to people to represent the paper at community functions.
We'll miss them both.

Baby carrots ??? So that's what's the matter with you and the folks at the N&R ! Get some real food - sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits in the morning and double cheeseburgers with jalapenos beginning about noon time; after work - chili cheese fries, buffalo wings, and cold cold long neck Budweisers -

JR -
We all KNOW WHY you aren't covering Mitch Johnson's about face on the black book.
You, your reporter and your editorial staff smeared a great police chief, trumped up bogus race charges and continue to fuel problems here in Greensboro.
COVER THE STORY - that's what you're paid to do, that's what we pay our subscription for.

I have had the pleasure of working closely with both Frank and Adria and will miss them greatly. I'm proud to say I played a role in hiring them both, and they've been wonderful assets to the paper.
They are talented journalists and all-around good people to know. I wish them well in their next endeavors and hope they'll stay in touch.
