Businessmen tried to help the coliseum

I was appalled at the negative letters to the editor that were so critical of some of our outstanding citizens. I am aware of the historic generosity of these people and feel that they were being judged unfairly.

It appears to me that the critics have a grudge against Matt Brown and the coliseum that transcends to a group that tried to do good things for the city. The mentioned businessmen were not making an investment but were trying to keep hockey in Greensboro and help the coliseum.

These outstanding citizens create jobs, make generous donations and perform volunteer tasks throughout the community and should not be treated as greedy individuals. It would be interesting to know what the "bashers" have done or are doing now for this community.

Dick, If I had the money these guys have, I would certainly be able to profess what "good deeds" I do for this community. Unfortunately, I dont.
I know people who work for and or have worked for one of the individuals named, and I personally know their daily struggle of making ends meet. Here's an idea for your rich friends, have them give their lowest paid employees a raise next time, in stead of throwing money up a wild bulls ass?

Dang, don't believe you said that. Lilly, No question in my mind, that was a statement not a question.(???)

mrproduce, its hard to type one handed. (This AK-47 in one hand, the other hand on the keyboard). There should of been a period at the end of that statement, and the word instead is one word. I stand corrected. ;)

Lilly, That's OK. Typos we can handle as long as you are "always prepared". Although I might suggest you save the "heavy artillery" for a red alert and use your 9mm for the rest of the time.

correct Yvonne. Wonder where the heck she got that AK anyhow. She must load her own ammo also from the sounds of it.

Mr. Michaud, Are you suggesting we should make exceptions for the "businessmen" who were "..a group that tried to do good things for the city. The mentioned businessmen were not making an investment but were trying to keep hockey in Greensboro and help the coliseum."? And if it wasn't an investment, what was it? And why do they feel it is OK now to have the taxpayers of Greensboro pick up the tab for their non-investment?

Seems to me they ended up spending money that was not their's to spend. Would it not upset you if I spent you money without your consent? Bet you would have me charged with theft.

Any time us plain folk put money into an enterprise, it's called an investment. And it is just plain foolish for people to invest money they can't afford to lose.

Think I will get to work on finding loopholes so when I lose money on my meager 403B, I can pass that loss on to the citizens of any town, USA.

Mr. P, I was "chewing butt" while you were posting so I missed your post til I "refreshed".

Don't you remember, Lilly has connections. Another reason to take her on board. There is no telling how valuable she might turn out to be (aside from protecting my behind and providing the comic relief you spoke of).

I'm staying out of who her connections are. If ever investigated, I can honestly plead ignorance.

LOL! I am pretty well connected indeed. :) I love this city, I was conceived, born and raised here, so were my offspring. Yes I reproduced TWICE, be afraid, be very afraid. LOL!

Outstanding citizens, generous.

These are words I might use to describe folks who DIDN'T rip off the taxpayers.

I don't care if they want to save hockey or not. Just answer me this question: If they were so concerned about hockey, why the hell didn't they do it with their own money instead of mine?

Very well said another bigmouth. *applauding*
