Council vote based on winning another term

I am emotionally numb regarding the City Council's vote on the Truth and Reconciliation issue. Florence Gatten is my representative and I found her comments unorganized and inflammatory. I am extremely disappointed in Keith Holliday, and I discovered that it is more important for some folks to get reelected and to be popular in the media than it is to do the right thing.

Since everyone seems clear on what racism isn't, what is it? The Klan/Nazi groups? No, those are extremist hate groups. The mayor knows he is acting out of racial superiority, and he should just say it and be honest like Robbie Perkins.

Mr. Greene, It's all a matter of opinion. I listened to Mr. Holliday's speech at the council meeting and thought he was unbiased and honest. I heard him say nothing inflammatory, racial or derogatory. His stance was for the benefit of Greensboro and his remarks were well thought out and fair.

Just because you are angry or disappointed that your own views did not win out is no appropriate reason to attack Mr. Holliday. IMO he spoke for the a large majority of the citizens of Greensboro.

Remember, truth is a very subjective issue sometimes. Your truth is not necessarily anyone else's. So before you accuse someone of being untruthful it would behoove you to try to remove yourself from the darkness and seek the light.

A disclaimer: No, I do not know Mr. Holliday or any of the council members. I made my statements based on listening to the recorded meeting.

Yup, the Mayor seems to be a nice enough guy, I don't know him either Yvonne. I don't know if its the politician in him that makes him seem to cowtow to some of the issues or if he has re-election in the back of his mind and this is why he comes across as being such a namby pamby. Time will tell I guess.

Seemed like to me that Mayor Holliday came out AGAINST this Truth and Reconciliation Commision. That is, to me, the opposite of being politically correct in the present "if you don't agree with every tear-down-whitey idea, you are a bigot" environment. I commend Holliday for his courage.

Unless, he changed his mind. He didn't change his mind, did he?
