Of course Nov. 3 had to do with race

In a recent article published in the News & Record, Greensboro Mayor Keith Holliday was quoted saying the tragedy that occurred on Nov. 3, 1979, had little to do with race. I used to think the stupidest thing Mayor Holliday ever said was when he suggested freezing death row inmates instead of killing them. That way they could be thawed out if their cases were ever overturned.

He has now topped himself.

How did he come to the conclusion that a "Death To The Klan" march that was interrupted by KKK and Nazi gunmen was not racial? You see, the KKK and the Nazis are racist organizations. Now keep in mind, they have a lot of hate to go around and give it freely to whomever opposes their twisted ideas. However, they really hate minorities.

Knowing this, by saying the tragedy had nothing to do with race is like saying Santa has nothing to do with Christmas. I heard the mayor also say he thought the KKK and Nazi killers should have been found guilty. If they were black, they would have.

Wake up and smell the burning cross, Mr. Mayor. It stinks of racism.

You're right. Santa has nothing do to with Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ.

Lemme tell you this Mr. Holder, if there were a Death to the Lilly March, I would feel threatened, perhaps caught up in the emotion, and show up armed to defend myself. I believe this is how most of you would react, if there were a march that implied DEATH to ANY of you. Sure it would of been STUPID to do, but hindsight is 20/20.
My personal feelings on this matter are: Everyone who showed up that day is equally responsible for what happened. It was a tie in who won the stupid contest that day. Enough about this, its done. Its over, Greensboro moved on. At least the MAJORITY did.
P.S. The Mayor is a nice guy who doesnt want to upset people, by saying the "wrong thing". Does this make him less effective as a Leader? Well lets see if he gets re-elected.

Mr. t and Lilly, You both get an Amen from this blogger.

Santa has plenty to do with Christmas, Mr. T. Just because YOU don't think he does, doesn't mean it's true. If I associate Dick Vitale with college basketball, even though he doesn't play, and you don't - my association is just as valid.

And for what it's worth, the history of Christmas, an effort to match the Pagan ritual of the time, is interesting and you should do some background reading.

Just to clarify a few things... I never said I am for the truth and reconcilliation project....all I said was it is dumb to say....that....on nov 3 1979 when a group of KKK and nazis went to a black neighborhood and shot people had "little to do with race," is silly......as far as the X-mas comments....I have never seen a bitg fat statue of the baby jesus waving to people at friendly shopping center around christmas time...whether u like it or not...u do not see christmas without santa in our society.....and....you cannot see the KKK and the Nazis as non racial groups in our society.come on....

Yvonne, what is the address of your blog?

Boobyface, Who are you and why do you want to know? Are you a blogger policeperson? If so, I want you to know I'm no saying a word until I consult my cyber attorney.

Lilly who? Fraid I can't be of any help there either.

hahahahhahahaha. ;)

That's funny. I grew up learning that Christmas was about Christ. Hence, the name Christmas.

I don't hear people going around calling it Santamas.

And yes, I have read up on the history of Christmas. I understand the history of the pagan holidays and the druids. I think it is quite interesting, actually.

I celebrate Santa Claus. I eat alot around the holidays. I usually put up a Christmas tree. But the Santa that we celebrate has nothing to do with Christ. We don't even acknowledge that the original Santa was a Christian. That's why I said what I said.

But this is really off the real subject here, which is about whether or not race was involved. And, quite honestly, I don't see how you can say that race wasn't involved.
