Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr would be smart to take the advice of the News & Record? Anytime this newspaper is "disappointed" in the performance of our two senators, you can bet they are doing the job they were elected to do.
Sen. Graham of South Carolina did not do that and is no doubt feeling a little bit of job insecurity. May it only increase.

I voted for both Dole and Burr. Burr hasn't been in office long enough to impress or disappoint me. But Dole...I am still trying to figure what, if anything she has done good or bad.
I mean really...what DOES SHE DO?????

You mean, besides shop? She's got more colors of business suits and matching shoes than I've seen since Imelda Marcos!

Tony and Truth, Agreed. I know neither one is answering their emails as I have sent a few. So, I too, wonder just what they are doing. I am hard pressed to think of any important issue they have taken a stand on. But are they any different than the rest? Wouldn't give you two pigs in a poke for any of them.

The few times I have had occasion to call Ms. Dole's office, she doesn't have time for me. At least John Edwards hosted a 'Tarheel Thursday' where he addressed the issues with North Carolinians each Thursday. Come to think of it, He also was willing to return emails also.

As much as I hate to admit it, Burr's office is currently helping a friend of mine with an issue related to the Vets Administration. He has gotten a few letters updating him on their progress! I may be as liberal as they come, but Burr is helping my friend and credit has to be given to him for actually caring enough to do so.
Dole on the other hand just wanted to get away from ol' Bob.

Glad you posted Brian. How else would any of us know that Burr's office is actually doing something? Even if I do not support a politician I believe in giving credit where credit is due.
The issue I have contacted both of them about is illegal immigrants. Is it any wonder they have not touched that one? Neither have the guts to take a stance on that although it is a priority for most of NC.

To give both credit they both answered letters that I sent to them. It took an incredibly long time but they did answer them.

I wrote to Senators Burr and Dole. I heard from Sen. Burr within two weeks. I've not heard from Sen. Dole yet but I think I will. I wrote about the immigration situation. I also wrote to Rep. Foxx. I also heard from her within two weeks. I wrote to her about social security and immigration.
I believe that we have good representation in D.C. I also believe that Sen. Dole is doing more for N. C. than Sen. Edwards did because he was gone out on the campaign trail most of the time. Yep, I truly believe that he could have really done more to help us than he did.
Yes, I am a registered republican but I have never voted a straight ticket. I vote for the person that I think will do the best job for our country, county, or state.
I know some of you will differ with me but that is what's so great about being an American and liveing in a great country where we can voice our differences and still love one another.

Reader, I vote person, not ticket, also. It is my opinion people should vote for a human being rather than a party. And it really doesn't matter whether I would vote for your candidate or not. You have to be true to your convictions just as I do mine. And, yes, it's great we can express our opinions and still love (or at least respect) one another. That's what I'm talking about!
