I wish everyone who lost power last night could have walked with me. Never have I experienced the beauty of the city and my neighborhood better than without its nerve-racking artificial light. Replacing some visual stimuli, insect song virtually leapt to my ears. Sans droning climate control devices, the roar of a generator across the park rattles my fillings still.

If it's the absence of nerve-wracking artificial light you're looking for, it's easy to find. Just go live in the woods without electricity. The beauty will astound you. Of course, you'll probably be dead within a week.

Mr. Quinn, you paint a beautiful picture which most folks have never experienced.
Once my days of working were finished I moved to the mountains, where by the way we do have electricity in our houses and live very comfortably, to escape the "flashing neon lights" of the big cities. The quiet here in the mountains is almost deafening with the sounds of night critters in their soulful symphony and the backdrop of stars for their stage lights.
Ah yes, Mr. Quinn it is indeed a wondrous event for those who experience it only occasionally or for those like myself who live it each night. Truly the sound of peace.
