This letter goes out to our county commissioners, including Billy Yow, Paul Gibson and others who have expressed disagreement with giving yourselves a pay raise. If you truly regret it and feel it is unjustified, considering all the other needs of our county, then return the raise portion of your paychecks, and go on record as doing so. Then, come next election, the voters will know which of you truly put your money where your mouth is.

Ms. Horne,
Perhaps your scorn for the county commissioners who voted against the raise and have expressed their objections to it should be reserved for those who voted for it and feel that they deserve it because the work so hard, staying up all hours taking telephone calls defending their votes to raise their pay. It's those individuals who deserve criticism and scorn. Mr. Yow would have better been served to have acted honorably and donated his raise to a worthy cause, but at least he didn't vote for it because he thinks he deserves it.

Instead of returning it to the coffers thus allowing the DEMs to choose how to spend it, why not donate it to Guilford County with stipulations on where is is to be used and how?

I would like to take this oppertunity to point out one more time that the budget which included a pay raise for the commissioners was approved along party lines. Need I say what party voted for the tax increase? From what I've read in these blogs and talking to other citizens of guilford co. NO ONE approves of what these thieves did. But I can only shake my head and wonder:Why would ANYONE EVER vote for the democrats??? I am not trying to be a wise***. I am truly befuddeled by this. To gripe about what they (the dems) do,then go out and vote for them is beyond me.
