New energy bill pads the same old pockets

I keep hoping that things will get better in Washington and that eventually the spirit of bipartisanship will return. Judging from the energy bill just passed, it ain't gonna happen.

Raise your hand if you think the oil companies need taxpayer subsidies. They have just recorded record profits, and fuels of all kinds steadily go up in price. It seems that the primary purpose of this bill was to repay campaign contributions with taxpayer funds. Robin Hayes, for example, received almost $130,000 from the energy industry, and, he, of course, voted for the energy bill. Even the people who drew up this energy policy admit that it will make little difference in the long-term cost of energy or the availability. This is because it does very, very little to encourage conservation, development of alternative fuels or more efficient use of fossil fuels.

At the bill signing ceremony they should have all of the representatives that voted for this stand in front holding one of those giant checks like they do in a sports event from all of the money that they collectively recieved from the energy industry.

As long as we don't seem to care about what's going on in Washington we deserve garbage like this passing for serious legislation.

Paul, when are you gonna run for president?

Mr Marby,
The President has said along this would not lower the price of gas. These bill is 1724 pages long. How many pages have you read? My guess is ZERO.So raise your hand if you think Jamestown, Homestead, and all of TAX HIKE MIKES pork projects need YOUR TAX $$$$$.It amaze me that all the answers to the world problems can be solved in letters to the editor, when NC is the 49th worst managed state. I would like to see these letter writers and the LNR solve some of these problems. Like our school problems, why most states have a surplus of money, why NC seniors travel to VA to shop (sales tax 40% less)
Why our temp. tax on food is 30 years old. Why our temp tax is on its way to 30 years old. Why we let Basnight and Black misuse our tax $$$. Why we let Roy Copper sweep these charges under the rug.
Why the NR gives all these things a free ride???
I could go on all day, but when I get up in the morning the LNR will have more Bushwacking letters. And no letters about our real state needs. I sent a few, they will not print a letter critical of the liberals. Of course I see their point, they have supported the good ole boys, and its hard to back down .Marshall your attacks on me are a useless a tits on a bore hog.
I just used them to show my liberal golf buddies how they sound.
