There's a bush that grows in my yard. At first, it rooted from a parent, doing whatever made the daddy bush happy. Later, it developed into a problem, choking out anything that got in its way.
I'm at a loss as to the solution to this problem bush. Maybe time is the answer and Mother Nature will take care of the problem.

Ah... But think how much damage that insidious weed causes as it chokes out all that was good and wholesome in what was once a lush and harmonious yard will do in time. As it chokes your constitutional oak and your billorietus. Your neighbors that use to admire your yard as the standard now look in horror as it deteriorates into a weedy mess.
Barney Phife had the solution.

Go on over to Home Depot and pick up a big bottle of Roundup and soak that Bush. It may take a few applications before its resistance will break down and it will wither away. Don't hesitate to spray the large older Bush to, since it seems to have been the root of your problems. But after its gone, all your other plants will prosper once more! Best of luck!

N&R have too much space to fill in today?
Posted by yard dog | August 7, 2005 8:57 AM
You've got that backwards Plant Dr. She's supposed to take the Roundup and spray 5 or 6 times up each nostril. But, yes, then the problem will wither away.
Posted by the Heckler | August 7, 2005 9:37 AM
I don't think it's a problem of filling space, but a problem of over-abundance of anti-Bush letters flooding the LTE department. His popularity dwindles with each month/week/day. One day you may accept the fact that the nation's citizens are changing their opinion of him.
This was posted by a conservative who has changed her mind and decided Bush is not a demi-god!!!!

Sarah, we do live in a blue county. But the "Bush plant" is a bit tacky. Could have at least come up with something concerning starving children, destroyung the enviroment,or that old standby: "Bush lied". That is always popular among the Bush haters.
Posted by yard dog | August 7, 2005 10:07 AM
Apparently the N&R has given up on printing letters of substance, and shows it's true colors by running rabid anti-Bush gibberish trash for the sake of attacking a sitting president any way it can.
Good move, N&R, thanks for showing us how bitter and liberally partisan your editorial staff is.

Maybe in time you'll find that the stronger bush was really weeding out your weaker weeds and making your yard the best in the neighborhood. Your yard will be the envy of all the weaker, disorganized yards.
I think you'll find that Mother Nature did, indeed, bless you with the strong bush.

Sarah I would love to know where you found that this was a conservative who changed her mind. The only thing I read was somone who couldn't just state what they mean and had to wrap it up in some kind of package.
Posted by Trish | August 7, 2005 11:08 AM
Sarah, how did you arrive at your opinion that President Bush is losing popularity? By this, I mean what are your sources for the information that led you to this opinion? Liberal media? Talking to other liberals? Reading liberal blogs? Reading liberal newspapers?
The media shapes our opinion, since we rely on them for news of things outside our immediate area, such as world news, political news, etc. If you use only biased sources for your news...guess what?..you adopt the biased view.
Posted by JayCee | August 7, 2005 11:54 AM
JayCee, there's this.
Trish, the way I read Sarah's commment was that she was referring to her post when she wrote, "This was posted by a conservative who has changed her mind..."

JayCee,
If that is true and the Media is anti-Bush then how did the goober win?

Marshall, it's Fife, Barney gets mad when his name is not spelled correctly.
Our previous president really liked "bush", but I'm not talking about the plant variety. Maybe we could get him back in the White House as first man and all our problems will magically go away.
Posted by Dan | August 7, 2005 3:43 PM
I'd much rather have a president that lacks morals than one that lacks morals and compassion. We're screwed as a country if we continue to allow our government to be raped by an oppressive regime.
America really does need a regime change.
It's funny that the right always complains of a "liberal press". Please people, we're not buying that.
Just wait until President Hillary does something you right-wing-nuts don't agree with. Then the press will jump all over it and may we then label the press as conservative????

Ah thank you Roch that makes sense! LOL I was reading it wrong and thought I didn't have the seceret decoder ring to figure out the letter, that maybe there was some message I didn't get that Sarah did!

" Sarah, we do live in a blue county."
Dog, we were blue by only around 1500 votes. There's enough yankees college students here to cause that .

"Marshall, it's Fife"
Now that is a serious fo paj for a native North Carolinian. (;-}
My apologies to all.

Roch 101, the poll reflects what we hear all the time from the news media. The majority of Americans form their opinions based on input from their news source, the liberal major media.
If all the media sources keep telling you something is BAD, regardless of whether it's really bad or not, you'll believe that it is, indeed, bad.
The media convinces us something is bad, then conducts polls to justify it's position. Then they report the poll showing how bad things are, and the vicious cycle repeats itself.
We're at the mercy of the media.

Hugh, you know I started to mention that, but I figured I'd have the Blog police on my case again demanding the 1500 names!

I'd not heard of this incident, but it seemed germane to this thread. "The reader will learn how public apathy toward ... corrupt politics can lead to the deprivation of the most basic civil rights."

Since you seem to feel all media is liberal may I ask where do you then get your information on which you base your opinion.
I also find it interesting that you seem to equate liberals as liars or deceivers.
Lets see here our national debt continues to grow hitting all time highs, China is helping keep the dollar up by buying up the dollar, jobs keep moving overseas, immigrants keep coming in taking over what jobs are left here, our image around the world is at a all time low, we are still one of the worse in industrial countries with education, and the country is heavily divided over the war. Should I mention our environment, high gas prices.
But obviously these things are only in our imagination as this comes from our "liberal" media.

I love it! Finally an honest conservative! They do want to do away with progressive thinkers. Boxcars anyone?

Mr. Hayes, our economy is booming, unemployment is at one of it's lowest levels, and our debt has been slashed by millions, mostly due to President Bush's tax cuts. Some oppose the war, but that's always been the way in the US, even during WWII.
Where do YOU get your bogus info?
Posted by JayCee | August 8, 2005 11:07 AM
The voters in this country put Miracle-Gro on that Bush. Notice the silence from Europe lately?
Posted by truth | August 8, 2005 12:04 PM
Jaycee
Never said the economy wasnt growing. But the national debt going down?? Really!!
Unemployment its lowest: Could it be there are still alot of people who stop declaring unemployment and what about these new jobs. My brother lost his job got a job doing the very same thing but at a 70% pay cut. But hey he is working right that is what is important for those unemployment numbers.
But you feel my info is bogus so you are right China is not buying up the dollar helping keep our economy afloat, oh that report showing americans for the first time saved 0 while credit card use jumped which means americans are living more and more on credit BOGUS and those high gas prices you see everyday BOGUS just your imagination, housing prices being called a bubble BOGUS, the country being heavily divided over the war BOGUS we are all just a bunch of happy campers and your right that recent poll showing SOME as in over 60% people unhappy with war BOGUS hey it came from a liberal news so that automatically makes it BOGUS.Jobs going overseas BOGUS you are right those plants closing down around the country are just RELOCATING.
Hope you dont mind me throwing in a heavy dose of sarcasm I mean since my info is BOGUS what do I have to loose. And by the way I did notice you didnt give me your source of news so that I could move on from my BOGUS news to your REAL news.

If Trish needed a decoder ring to figure out the writer was refering to the president metaphorically then she doesn't know her bush from a hole in the ground.
Posted by Sarah | August 8, 2005 3:32 PM
Marshall, it's not fo paj, it's faux pas. That's French for "false step". Gee living in France helped me with grammer, in addition to convincing me I would not want to live in a socialist country.
I just watched an Andy episode where Barney got teed off because his name was misspelled.
To your other post, I never said I wished Bill would be first man, just that if he is all the problems in the world that Hayes lists would magically dissappear.
Posted by Dan | August 8, 2005 3:55 PM
Sarah,
Actually I needed a decorder ring to decode your post since technically it was grammatically incorrect.
However, I decided to take the high road and use a little humor, maybe you should try it sometime. But sense you felt the need to attack my intelligence well I suppose two can play at that game. Before calling someone else's intelligence into play you better make sure your own is up to par.
Posted by Trish | August 8, 2005 5:52 PM
Lib,
Your ASSumption is that the writer is a progressive thinker. If your definition of a progressive thinker is anyone who wishes the death of the commander-in-chief during war time (or any other) than I will have to plead guilty to wishing them to wither away.
If you equate hatred and ignorance with being progressive than I feel sorry for your miserable pathetic existance. The shallow mass graves have been shut down, thanks to Mr. Bush, but I'm sure some room could be made for you.
Posted by the Heckler | August 8, 2005 7:59 PM
"They do want to do away with progressive thinkers. Boxcars anyone?"
Well Lib, I'm not sure if boxcars will be needed, with every passing year more and more (at a higher rate then conservatives) "progressive thinkers" are aborting their babies. Kind of ironic that the progressive thinker's ideology results in more lost votes for the Democrats every election.
Posted by Trish | August 8, 2005 8:00 PM
"fo paj"
Mmmmmmmm now could that be an intentional mispelling to commemorate an unintentional mispelling.
I'll never tell.
Posted by Marshall | August 8, 2005 8:33 PM
"Sense" or "since" Trish? I re-checked my posts for grammer and found nothing out of place. I'm sorry you didn't think the second post was a joke. I guess since I slammed your buddy Dubya you have to slam me. Thicken your skin and take a joke. I'm a conservative, not a ditto head. It would be refreshing if the rest of you would develop some independent thought instead of towing the party line.
Posted by Sarah | August 9, 2005 8:06 AM
Sarah,
First feel free to go back and check all my spelling, punctuation also, I could use the tips. I did after all receive a public education and have never been shy about admitting I am no English major. So to point them out is no skin off my back. Secondly to help you out SINCE you couldn't find the error: "This was posted by" so if you were in the process of posting how can you use the past tense? "This is being posted" or "I am posting" would have been better.More to the point, I asked a simple question, someone pointed out that I misread what you wrote. I made a joke about MY mistake. You on the other hand had to call into question my intelligence and somehow I am suppose to find that funny instead of an attack? For the record, I didn't slam you, but if I do you will know the difference.
Why would I care if you "slam" the President? I asked a simple question for clarification and as far as I know that is allowed. Also what does it matter whether you are a conservative or not? Does that somehow elevate your opinion over everybody else? If we don't follow your line of thinking we don't have an independent thought? Talk about being a demi-god.
