I have been following the news on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I was just curious about the checks in the mail. Where exactly is FEMA planning on sending the checks to the people who have lost everything and are staying in temporary shelters?
At a time when FEMA should be "moving forward," as they are putting it, they are just treading water if not moving backward.
Another thing: What type of Internet access does a person who has just lost everything, except for the shirt on their back in some cases, have? Our government officials need to get off of their cushy sofas, cut through the red tape and get serious about helping these people, instead of talking about the heck of a job that has been done when clearly there is so much left to do.

It's so easy to criticize others.

Clearly you haven't been following the news all that much.
1) Checks and other mail are being handled by the US Postal Service. Evacuees register at the shelter in which they are staying, and the post office has said they will take care of getting their mail to them.
2) Internet access is provided at the shelters. For those not staying at a shelter, most public libraries have internet access for public use.
Perhaps you need to broaden your scope of resources some.

They're sending their FREE MONEY to the FREE SHElTER we're providing for them, since the place they regularly receive their FREE MONEY no longer exists.
Soon, when we give them all FREE HOUSES then we'll send their FREE MONEY to their new address.
Man, I wish I was black, stupid, and too damn sorry to work so I could get some FREE MONEY.

Flounder,
I STILL wouldn't want to trade places with any of them. And btw, making generalizations often indicates low-intelligence.

I'm sorry all. Racism makes me angry, that's all.
I apologize Flounder. What I meant to say was this:
What you wrote was stupid and ignorant, and since what one writes is a projection of how one feels, then well....
you draw the conclusion.
I do however laugh at your ignorance.

If you hate racism, you must not be a Democrat.
Democrats are the biggest racists in the political arena.
They categorize people and treat them differently because of their skin color, that is racism at it's worst. Quotas are racist, because they use the color of skin to determine what someone gets or doesn't get. Pure racism. You take people's differences and put each "group" in a little box so you can do something different for each one. You give poor black people government money, so in effect, you put them on a "payroll" that will only continue if they keep electing Democrats. That's racial vote-buying, pure racism.
Harper, I hate people like you specifically because you ARE a racist.

Flounder,
First off, I'm no Democrat! LOL!
Secondly, I assure you I'm no racist. What have I posted that would give you that idea?
On the other hand, you have posted plenty telling us all what kind of person you are.
It's okay, one day you too will grow up and see the light.
