« Urge senators to vote against Patriot Act | Main | Tyranny begins when society acts out of fear »

A few choice words

To Terry Grier and the school board members who support him, and all of the other social engineers who concocted the now-defunct High Point lottery school assignment plan that resulted in school friendships torn apart, increases in violence, lowered property values, eroded educational scores and all of the associated emotional trauma, I have just five simple words — ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Oh, yeah, and by the way, why is Grier still here?

Please remeber that Terry Grier does exactly what the school board wants him to do. Remember his supporters when it is time to elect school board members. Several are interested in their own agenda which seems closely related to real estate values. Several are interested in the quality of education and welfare of the students and teachers. Look at their votes and decide.

Parents should insist on neighborhood schools. That is the only way to achieve success. Busing to achieve racial or economical balance was outlawed years ago. Why was this allowed??? This was a question I asked Grier when he met with Southwest teachers. He, of course, did not answer my question, just spoke some blah, blah, blah.

I know that drawing school lines will create some unhappy people initially. However, if you draw lines fairly and leave them alone, after a few years of stability, students and parents will support their school.

Carol-agree with everything you've said except the part about Grier doing exactly what the school board wants him to do. Grier dreams up all these half-baked ideas and the sheep fall in line. This has been the pattern through the last three high-binders the school board has hired. The super is supposed to lead, not follow. His approval comes from the board, but he is the idea man.
