Bush makes Ivins' predictions come true

I am a liberal, leftist Democrat, with no vision of the future, no plan for America, and a Bush-hater. Now that I've admitted my sins, the people who write complaining about this letter won't have to reiterate the labels. This should eliminate 90 percent of my detractors since labels seem to be the basis of all their rebuttals.

Consider those letters that dismiss Molly Ivins' columns just by invoking labels. No need to refute her arguments. That would require a logical response rather than a visceral regurgitation.

Consider Molly's predictions:

1. She endured Bush as governor of Texas and warned us not to listen to what George says but what he does.

2. When we went to war against Iraq, she predicted we would win the military phase handily but would suffer "a peace from hell."

3. She warned against the "big oil" consortium that developed the administration's fuel policy that has since so deliberately bulldozed us into becoming addicted to their product.

In Molly Ivins, we have a voice crying in the wilderness. She is a prophet ignored in her homeland by people who not only don't want to listen but also are afraid to.

Molly Ivins is not a prophet, but neither is Ann Coulter.

Molly is usually funny while trying to make a point, while Coulter is usually nasty whily trying to be funny. From Ann's latest:

"After an Egyptian ferry capsized recently .. Witnesses say it was the most violent ocean liner-related incident since Carnival Cruise Lines fired Kathie Lee Gifford."

" ... one Iranian newspaper is soliciting cartoons about the Holocaust. (So far the only submissions have come from Ted Rall, Garry Trudeau and The New York Times.)"

"I believe our motto should be after 9/11: Jihad monkey talks tough; jihad monkey takes the consequences. Sorry, I realize that's offensive. How about "camel jockey"? What? Now what'd I say? Boy, you tent merchants sure are touchy."

"I am a liberal, leftist Democrat, with no vision of the future, no plan for America, and a Bush-hater."

Watch out Howard Dean, Micheal might be after your job.

I've read Molly Ivins before but she's boring just like Leonard Pitts. Why? Because their op-eds are soooo predictable as they almost always address one issue. For Molly it's hatred of Bush, for Pitts, it's racism. If they could address some other issues for a change it would be refreshing. Molly will probably have to retire when Bush leaves office, she won't have anything to write about.

#3 came true long before this administration was even thought of. Can anyone remember the long gas lines, alternate day purchasing and price regulation during the Carter administration. However to give Jimmy his due, it had started even before then. Congress has sat on their rears since the end of WW2, knowing that energy was an issue and would become an even more pressing issue and has done nothing but make excuses, point fingers, play political football with the issue and cave in to either eco-terror groups or oil and auto groups.
So don't be so eager to "Saint" dear Molly.

Dan I am with you on both the writers, boooooring and so predictible. I could write both columns because most are just repeats of the ones before with a few words changed, sentences swithched around and perhaps a name or two changed.

I dont know the writers referred to here.My only comment here after reading this is how I remembered prior to Clinton being elected how many in arkansas were warning us of what is to come. I am sure after 8 years of Clinton they were sitting back and saying to themselves "America we told you so but you didnt listen".
Just sort of deja vu but with Bush now.

Dan:

She likes Tom Delay too .. and Abramoff .. must be something in the Texas Water that grows such ripe fodder.

"She endured Bush as governor of Texas "

Maybe she has a point there. I'm having to endure Mike Easly...........

Michael,

People often get labeled for a reason. Sometimes mistakingly, sometimes not. Live outside the label for a change and it makes it really difficult for people to put you in a box.

Listening to the likes of Molly Ivins, Leonard Pitts, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and the other talking heads is NOT a good start.

Molly makes about 50 doomsday predictions a week and they all involve a Republican. Rush does the same thing and they involed Democrats. No big surprise they might get one right now and again.

As far as being addicted to oil, I don't see how you can say we were forced into that.

Take some personal responsibility and find a real hero.

Terror! Terror! Terror! All of it from Arab countries!

BUSH PLAN: Let Arabs run our ports--we'll fight them at the water's edge!

Clinton: When he let China run Long Beach, the Republican mouthpieces, such as Rush Limbaugh, etc, had a field day. Post 911 and our President wants to allow Arabs the operations of our ports. Wake up all you defenders of the indefensible! Quit being Republicans and Bush apologists, and start being AMERICANS! I am not a fan of Mr. Bush, but nothing would make me happier than him taking control of his ship of fools, firing his advisors, and charting a new course for America.
Of course, it has been said, "You can't make chicken salad out of Chickensh_t".

"TERROR, TERROR, TERROR" is the mantra that got Bush elected the last time. The administration brought up terror at every turn to scare the voting public into voting for BUSH. Now, the administration wants to take that argument and turn it on its ear.
Enter Bubba, NeoCON, et al. to defend their "man of the hour" and his inept group of crooks and criminals.
Oh, and thank you Senator Dole for being such a Statesman! LOL! Your hubby lobbies on behalf of the Dubai government and all you can do is support your party's leader. We deserve better!
