Laws reflect confusion about the value of life

This is in regard to the letter published May 17 concerning killing Canada geese. I find it interesting that, according to the letter writer, it is a federal offense to destroy the nests and eggs of migratory birds. If that is true, and you compare it to the fact that it is legal to extract and destroy the fetus from a mother's womb, even to the extent of partially birthing the child and then killing it, it makes a statement about the state of confusion this nation's laws are in as relates to the value of human life.

It's not confusing at all, Paul. The people who made legalized abortion on demand the law of the land place a higher value on the canadian goose's 'right to life' than some 'mass of human tissue' that has a heartbeat and can feel pain... simple, no?

Paul,
As you can see, you have company in your "Pro birth" fringe group. As neoCON has proven in past posts, he ONLY wants the fetus to be born. He cares little about the fetus AFTER it is born.

Hard to care for a fetus after it's born, as it is no longer a fetus.

I'm down here at the beach. You get caught messing with a sea turtle nest and you are in one heap of trouble. Perform an abortion and you get paid for it.

World traveler,
Did you get permission to break the boycott against me from the Godfather?

People will start to suspect you can speak for yourself... not.

neoCON,
Are you still working on that list of Great Accomplishments made by George W. Bush?

Surely you can give us all ONE reason that he is so great, that you defend his every move. Amnesty for illegal immigrants? Unprovoked war with sovereign nation? Harriet Myers'nomination to the Supreme Court?

Seriously, neo, don't waste your time. Go back to your trailer and watch Bonanza re-runs on the super station! (LOL)

Give me a F-ING BREAK!!

This has nothing to do with abortion.

I'm not in favor of abortion either, but as a MAN, I have no right to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her own body. Her decision, not yours or mine.

*afterthought* (man, imagine if G.W. was aborted!...what a great thought...)

You're right, Mr. Bowers. Let's change the rules to make it legal to kill geese. Then you won't have to worry about a double standard.

"You're right, Mr. Bowers. Let's change the rules to make it legal to kill geese. Then you won't have to worry about a double standard."

Good non sequitur as it relates to the LTTE, mark. Stellar use of pretzel logic, I must say.

Where DO these posters come from?

About as logical as comparing killing geese with abortion, eh Bubba??

From this woman, I say thank you Brian. Most men do not have enough respect for women to leave such a decision to her. Most men want to dictate what a woman does regarding her own body but want women to have absolutely no say in making laws about THEIR bodies.

Glad to know there are some men left who are secure in their manhood and are not threatened by women who think.

As for geese and fetuses, what the heck does one have to do with the other? Apples and oranges.

It is about CONTROL. These one-issue folks crawl out from under their rocks when they hear the word abortion, but want to have the choice to smoke, drink, and force religion down people's throats.
I still love the bumper strip that says, "If men had babies, abortion would be in the Bill of Rights".

Brian Harper: George W. Bush...aborted? How would neoCON and Bubba know what to do?!

Wow, what a turn! I love the way this one went!

I too wonder how the connection is made between a goose fetus and a human (person) fetus. I think the kids who perpetrated the act on the goose nest should be taken to the woodshed. They apparently have no respect for anything, including life! Wonder what it would be if they had been aborted?

That is a "loose cannon" question anyway.

Shalom

Wonder if Paul and others think it's OK to strap an adult down and do a lethal injection? Life is life. (except for geese...they are totally out of control in our area...we need a great recipe for gourmet goose and let the hunters loose)

As much as you might want to say that one issue isn't related to the other, (and I agree), nobody has yet given a decent answer to the question.

It's quite simple really. Canadian Geese are an endangered species. People are not.

YD, how can they be endangered when we have so many of them? When were they put on the list? How can we get them removed? I don't blame them for not liking Canada, but how did they become permanent US citizens? I thought they just had temporary visas. They are draining our resources and all they bring are goose droppings.

Great point, Carol. They are on the endangered species list but I agree that there are way too many of them in our area.

If they just didn't poop all over everything!
