I am an elementary education teacher with Guilford County Schools. I have also worked part-time at the Greensboro Children's Museum since its inception.
In the museum's seventh year, I continue to marvel at the wonder and delight in children, parents and grandparents as they experience all the museum offers.
As a teacher, it comforts me to know that, despite the aura summer brings of ''no more pencils, no more books,'' children constantly learn through play - and have fun at the same time. Whether they're in the grocery store understanding nutrition, in the bank working the ATM, in the mail truck being a community worker, or outside picking vegetables learning the life cycle of plants, they are engaged, enthused and excited to learn.
I hope teachers - and parents - are aware that so much of what the museum has is aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and can be integrated into your lessons. I encourage you to bring your class, your own kids, youth group or scout troop for a visit to the museum. Let's continue to support Greensboro's own purple building on Church Street and give children and their families a great day of play - and education.

I'll admit to being biased here.
My little girls are just beginning to "age out" of the Children's Museum but still enjoy going there.
It's primarily a fun place to go, has some educational applications, and also exists as a great place to meet and interact with other children from various age groups and neighborhoods.
Regular admission is reasonable, but if you exercise the option of purchasing a family pass it becomes a bargain almost too good to pass up.
And when nobody's looking, you can play too.

I love the "half a plane" where you can load boxes, but I always have to fight some kid to get one of the costumes in the "dress up" area.
That museum would be a great place except for all the darned kids!

LOL Deac, I know it.
First time I've ever sat in the back of a police car without those tacky silver bracelets.
They never seem to match my belt.

I was just getting ready to complain about the fact that they charge adults admission to a children's museum. But after reading janherman and Deac's posts, I guess I can see why.

My comment is now superfluous: DD already said it. The kids hog all the good stuff. Try getting to drive the fire truck.
And for some reason, I find that bubble area strangely unsettling.
Otherwise, it's a great deal, especially for children.
