« Re-elected legislator wants to help the public | Main | Carolina Theatre offers auditorium alternative »

It's time for supporters to pay for the museum

Well, shot down again. How long, or should I say what will it take to get the Civil Rights Museum up and running? Ten million dollars is what it's going to take.

Do you mean to tell me that with all the successful African Americans in North Carolina alone (or with ties to the state), we can't come up with $10 million? Joe Dudley? Michael Jordan? Oprah? Maya? Or for that matter, Jesse (Jackson, not Helms), or even Skip?

I'm so sick of our people doing lip service and nothing more. It's obvious the money isn't going to come from anywhere else, so we need to do the ol' “bootstraps” maneuver and get this thing done.

With what we have spent on lottery tickets alone, we could have not only opened the thing but probably added a wing or two. I challenge everyone to donate at least $100 in the next month. I'm sending my check today. How about you?

No thanks, Anthony. IMO, Skip&co. are just as capable of mismanaging and looting the private kitty as they are the public one. Maybe even more so.

If this museum is ever going to be completed, the first order of business should be removing the biggest obstacles it faces: Alston and Jones.

Better yet, save yourself the price of a stamp and take that $100 and run it through a shredder!

Or, you can take that $100 and spend it on one of the many charities that need donations especially during this time of year. For me, Toys-for-Tots of course…

Could it be that Joe Dudley, Michael Jordan, Oprah, Maya, and Jesse Jackson recognize this museum scam for what it is?

If UNCG and NCA&T could take over complete control and operation, the bonds would pass. Skip never went to college and is very much an outcast among the proud graduates of A&T in our community. It is his achilles heel as folks like Warren Dorsett, and others scoff at Alston's lack of credentials.

If Earl & Skip were booted from ANYTHING having to do with the museum, it would receive the recognition it deserves. Skip and Earl are not "PART" of the problem, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM!

Anthony, if you want to waste your money then go for it. If I have $100 to burn I'll go to Ruth's Chris for dinner. Maybe you could spend $100 at Skippy's hot dog stand.

Good point jcackbar, Jordan, Oprah et al didn't make their fortunes with stupidity.

Maybe Fantasia can contribute!!

I have a better chance of getting a return on my investment by buying a lottery ticket.
