Gloria,
You are so correct! Even in your seventies, you see more clearly than most. If only our homophobic friends at the SBC could see as you do.

Call the catholics, tell them it's okay to rehire the pedophiles. After all, we're all sinners, right?

There's a big difference between most homosexuals and pedophiles, nitpicker. First, most homosexuals don't exploit and damage people for their own pleasure, just as most heterosexuals don't. Pedophiles do exactly that. I don't think what happens between consenting adults in the privacy of their homes is any of my business.
Second, most pedophiles are heterosexual, just as most people are heterosexual. Would anyone have had more sympathy for John Geoghan and his type if they'd molested little girls instead? I hope not.
The point is that protecting children from pedophiles is more important than "protecting" churchgoers who are not really hurt by what homosexuals do in the bedroom.

Beadbaby,
Great comments. It is beginning to appear that our friend, "Nitpicker" is fighting many demons of his own. He makes the leap from homosexuals to pedophiles which truly shows his ignorance of predatory criminals. For whatever reasons, he wants to find a convenient way to demonize gay people and pedophilia was his choice du jour.

I'm not comparing gay people to pedophiles. From what I know, there is no real relationship between the two.
I'm just saying that different churches have different standards for who they want in leadership positions at their church. If they interpret that the person is living a life of open sin whether it be that the person is a gay person, an unwed couple living together, etc, then it is their right to set those standards the way they see fit.
"I don't think what happens between consenting adults in the privacy of their homes is any of my business"
Me either.
