Carr shouldn't ask public to help pay legal costs

I am amazed that Tolly Carr would ask the public for money. His position as a news anchor does not entitle him to ask for money.

I would be ashamed if I were him. He chose to drink and drive. If anyone should ask for money, it should be the family that had to bury their son. I hope the public will not help him with his defense fees.

Guess what, Tolly, you messed up. Now it's your responsibility, not ours.

I wonder how much he'll get?

he doesn't get paid that much. he may have been an anchor but he wasnt that important... he probably made 35k max. He hit a guy walking across the street. a regular old joe. Had he hit a little girl skipping along with a pink ribbon in her hair and licking a lolly pop, then he could get the pro bono work from some attorney trying to make a name for himself or his firm. I too wonder how much he'll get. I think he needs to handle this on his own vs. getting the public to chip in. I also hate the thought of his church taking up a collection for him.

As a "thirtysomething," Carr should know the consequences of making poor choices. Enabling such poor behavior is sad. Check out the Counterpoint in today's N & R. The author's speak candidly. They offer some very valid points.

Shalom

IMHO, this is what is wrong with society today. They make personal decisions that turn out badly, then expect the public to bail their butts out of trouble. Since Tolly made the decision to get behind the wheel of a 2500-3000 lb. weapon after ingesting alcohol, he should have to pay for a defense (is there really any defense for this action?) or sit in jail until he has paid the time for the crime. Then he should be made to pay a stipend each month to the victim's family. Of course this will never happen, which is sad.

well hello yvonne! how's the b&b coming?

Well, hello yourself, buckyreeds. I know that moniker has some meaning (cause I know you) but I haven't quiet figured it out yet. Anyway, it's slow going. Have been out of work for a while cause I had extensive surgery on my right shoulder. Haven't been able to safely go back to lifting, pulling and tugging on 200+ pound patients yet. That also means I can't lift a lot of weight yet, which hinders my work at the B&B. But it's like I told you, I'm working on God's time apparently.

Some folks are working at the place today. They dropped one of those mile high pines on the house. Storms have blown trees down all around the house in the last several years and nary a one fell on the house. Such is life.

Hope life has improved for you.

He should be asking for money for Casey's family, not himself. What a disgrace.

The median salary for television journalists -- $44,000. The median for television reporters is $22,000. (copied that from somewhere but lost the link)

So, I'm guessing 6string is about right.
